I was wondering what people's opinion of General Hydroponics Flora Series, are the chemicals in these nutes bad for your health?

Plants always pull up the same food whether they're grown with hydroponic nutrients or in soil.

The difference is when growing in soil, bacteria is responsible for turning ammonia into nitrate. In hydro, you provide nitrate salts directly rather than letting bacteria make the nitrates.

The only thing in GH flora series that shouldn't be there is the food coloring... What, you think nitrate and phosphate salts are actually green, pink, and brown? They're all white salts.

Thanks for your knowledgeable reply. I guess I was thinking since I as "consuming" the plant, are the nutes the plant absorbs possibly bad for my health?

Okay so here is some more pics and what's with these two leafs ..they seem puffy at the start of the leaf .. maybe it's nothing I'm just trying to learn how to read my plant...cheers boys..ps the two highest leafs
Your plant looks fine to me. If you aren't feeding it yet, now is the time to start with a gentle, balanced veg feed unless you are in organic soil of course.

I've been using GH Flora for years, and I'm still alive. Although I am currently in the process of switching nutrients away from that product, I can't say anything bad about it. It does what it's marketed to do very well.

There are chemicals in there?
"They're safe enough." Monsanto told me so... I mean they are in concentrations that are weak enough that they are not toxic to humans with general exposure. Now, soak your body 24/7 in them or keep a jar of them in your airflow? Probably a bad idea. Inject them? Genius level shit.
What about potting soil? Is it safe to be around? I know someone who died from legionaires disease from being a gardener. Yeah... Potting soil.
So...is life safe? Oh, HELL NO! We're gonna die.
The worse part of "are these chemical fertilizers safe", is the manufacturing plants for them, and the environmental issues of the industry. What about the environmental impacts of organic amendments? They have to be taken from the natural place where they are and moved to somewhere else, burning fossil fuels the whole time.
What's the solution? Idk. Ask question like yours, try to constantly learn and stay informed, stay local, DIY, and somehow we have to strike a balance with producing and consuming. Everything is connected and just flows around and around.

A lot of conflicting information in here. Lets use the human body for example, will your body notice the difference in consuming a carbonated beverage vs naturally squeezed fruit juice? I had this debate with Heisenberg some years ago (synthetic vs Organic). Him being more scientific than I and much more capable of pulling data and information off the internet still could not convince me that aspartame as a sweetener has little effect on the human biological system. In fact, studies show aspartame turns to formaldehyde once it hits the liver. High fructose corn syrup turns immediately to fat once it hits the liver. So ask yourself when people brew teas and feed them sugars to multiply bacteria, do they even consider an artificial sweetener? With hydroponics in general, the diet is artificial. Don't get me wrong, I like hydro, but anything can be bad for health even if its not immediately visible. Look at Vaping...
