Getting Started Small w/ CFL's...Again...But a little bigger this time.

Today marks the end of week 3 of flower. Had a bit of a mishap shortly after lights on yesterday. Adjusted the light on the right side and for some reason the light on the left decided to lower itself onto 3 of my tops.
Of course this was during my nap, so it went unnoticed long enough to brown em up a bit. Still have like 16 more tops to look forward to so not a total loss thankfully.
During one of my long sessions of research
I came across a thread about defoliation that had quite a bit of information that answered questions that had been rolling around in my head for a while now. They even had some pretty convincing photos proving their technique works too. So I decided to do a bit of clipping as crazy as it sounds. Over the past week I have been trimming leaves that were shading budsites in hopes that these less developed "popcorn" buds will ripen and begin to produce... So far so good. Every budsite that was shaded and light green is now in a bright "sunny" spot growing quickly with a nice healthy darker green.
Now we just sit and wait... and hope lol. Gave her a pretty heavy watering the day before yesterday with plain ph water. Once the lights are back on I'll check and see if she is ready for another watering. Probably give her a taste of the full strength new flower nute mix. (regular mix, minus boost, added bloombastic) Would it be a good idea to just wet the first couple of inches w/ the nute mix, and then water w/ plain water till runoff? I'll get some pics of all my trimming up soon after lights on. Thanx for stopping in!!

Yeah I actually heard about the same thing from a guy that was on here. He gave me all sorts of info on the subject so I decided to try and same here I pulled almost all the fan leaves that were blocking the bud shoots and POW!!!! you can actually see the difference with in a day!!!! thats awesome that you do that too gotta rep ya!!! and Ima dive into that journal right now. Im even gonna supercrop mine and watch those babies swell and drip resin in one big canopy of bud shoots

BongKing, maybe you could point me in the right direction toward some good supercropping info and results. That was actually going to be my next research topic. I've heard it explained a few different ways, as with any techique, everyone has their own way of doing it. Any pointers for this next group coming in would be greatly appreciated.

The new crop isn't quite large enough yet to do any supercropping, but I have been looking into it a bit more. Thanx to your lead, I have found a few other helpful videos that have inspired some yeild increasing ideas. Thanx a million. I'll get some pics up once I get ahold of that camera again, the phone cam just doesn't do her justice lol.

Sooo... an old high school friend stopped by last night and we got to talking about growing. He is going to get his medical card today, and I am hopefully going to get my caregiver card soon. I decided to give him a sneak peek at what I have going on currently in the box and he was shocked at how small my bud production was so far along into flower. He suggested pulling my monster cfl's back to about 4-5 inches rather than 1-2 like they currently are. He said that he noticed some browning on her hairs that was premature and possibly a sign that I was frying them. What do yall think? Would it be safe to back my lights off a bit and not lose too much in yeild? I'll get some pics up later if I can get that cam over here again.
I am a bit worried about how little my calyx have swollen up. I missed one of the pollen sacks on the underside of one of the buds and it dusted a lower bud while I was attempting to remove it. That was about 10 days ago and the pods that were impregnated have swollen up a great deal. In comparison, the nonpollenated pods are nearly non existant lol. Should I be putting in some sort of extra effort to increase pod size or am I just being anxious yet again and need to wait for that swell in the last 2 weeks or so when all the hairs have turned?

He may be right about the lights, not sure.
Don't worry you're just getting anxious again lol
They will definitely get fatter.
Especially in about two weeks I would say you start noticing it.
You'll just walk in one day and be like wow, they really are budding up fat.

Oh, and I also had some hermie action go on.
I was pullin the pollen sacks as they came, but a couple buds got hit.
I'm using the seed pods as a way to tell when the bud will be ready to harvest.
When the seed is solid and ready to pop out, the bud will also be mature.

Pwizzle, thanx a million for stopping by and giving me some much needed input. I was wondering if I should use the seeded bud as the "bar", letting me know about how big the rest will look when about ready. I can't wait to see what the seeds look like when they are ready to pop, I've been wanting to watch that process but didn't think I'd get to see it until my next go-round lol. I may even try and sprout them for shitz-n-gigs just to see how accurate everyone is about these hermi seeds. Since everyone else is so scared to give it a try I think I'll gain a lil experience and then spread the knowledge.

Oh damn man, those are already fat as hell.
And get this, they don't even look like they've started fattening up lol
Your pistils are all still white, after some turn red is when they really start to get dense and thick.
you're gonna have some fuckin fat ass dense buds :D

Typical noob worried about every little thing. Kinda feel like a new mom flipping out because her kid has hiccups longer than a half hour rofl.
I took a few pics zoomed in as close as I could possibly get 'em with this 3x digi zoom cam. If you look closely at the the calyx you'll notice a "purplish" stripe down the tip. Is my plant just showing signs of age and about to give me a beautiful color show as she nears harvest, or do I have some deficiency.
After taking a broader look at the "purple" buds I noticed a few leaves on the buds have purple coming in on their tips. I wish the camera would pick up on the tiny bits of color I was looking at through my magnafier so I could show yall, because it is an awesome color (deficiency or not lol). There are no signs of nute burn or any deficiencies, that I know of anyway.
Any input on the subject is welcome, and please feel free to tell me to shut up and stop being so paranoid if that is the case lol.
One more thing that I forgot... I recently changed my nutes a bit in an attempt to lower my Nitrogen levels, would that possibly be the suspect I'm looking for in the case of the mysterious purps?

To me it looks like signs of maturing. The pistils are starting to "die off" and change colors.
If they are gonna be purple that's gonna be bad ass. :D
You will be seeing them plump up soon.

Sorry I have been gone so long. My internet company is retarded. Anyway, the girls look fucking amazing. I do see some purple tint but I wouldn't count on it too much. The pistils are looking like they are nearing their "no longer needed" phase but that really doesn't mean you are any nearer to harvest. When the trichomes turn an amber color (I will take a picture of mine tomorrow) it will be time to harvest. If you see the trichs turn about 60%-80% or higher you should cut them then. Check as often as possible to ensure the most perfect high :D As far as the purple is concerned I have had a few with purple leafs and purple pistils towards the end when it got cool so who knows, maybe you will be showing us blueberries by harvest :D

Damnit I forgot the picture

There is a picture of 1 of my plants in flower around 2 weeks apart.

So I decided to chop my "hero" plant down a few days ago. The two plants that I have in veg were getting too big for my lil veg box. Start out wet weight was over 90g (plus all the samples that I have smoked up and also given away 5 dry grams to a great friend of mine) After hanging for 2.5 days the weight had dropped down to 49g. I lost less than 10g in stems. 39g went into my jars to cure(10g of fluffy bud and the rest in nice dence colas and nugs). I hope I only lose about 3-5g during cure, but have no idea since this is my first full plant grow.
Currently the high is nice and uplifting. A slight touch of the warm fuzzy waves tickle your spine if you pay attention enough while meditating. I'm really shocked that things turned out as well as they did, especially for pulling a 10-12wk plant at 8wks.
I'll keep yall posted about the next grow coming up (already mostly thru veg, but still undecided on when to flip to flower) I could have my caregiver card by the end of the month, which will give me the green light to go full on. Let's keep our fingers crossed and hope we can crank this thing all the way up to 11! lol
I'd like to thank everyone for their input thru this grow... without that, these results would not be possible. Also, I'd like to thank RIU and any other forum like it for providing us with such valuable information and giving us all an place to gather and share out experiences. Keep up the good work, keep spreading the good word along with that green herb. Happy growing all!

Hey, just wanted to drop in and say it was nothing helping. I am glad to see you got a harvest of smokable buds. I know what a reward that is to see what you grew can actually do :D Good job on the grow I'm going to try to +rep you but don't know if I can.
