Gypsy's first Tree attempt

ok... first fuck up...

My non-calibrated holes on the hose were not calibrated right...:eyesmoke:

I had no water at the top... no good...

So I have pulled the hose out, and I am going with a squirt ring ...

Just like I was told by someone not too long ago...

I was wrong.. he was right...

The ring is coiled 2x... once by the center and once on the outer perimeter...

Works fine now... just like dude said...

Fucking gypsies...

ok.. stop...

fuck up v.1.2... the updated version..

I can't believe I did not see it staring me in the face...

I'm not doing rings or hoses...:dunce:

I'm gonna stick to what I know on this one...:o

So tomorrow I am getting another 50 gallon tote... and using it as a flood tray...

I can't think of a better way to evenly distribute the solution to the roots than just flooding the whole pot...

And it took DewyKox to point that out to me...

I mean... it's not like I had a ROOMFUL of it to give me the idea or anything...;-)

Nothing I suppose...

But I was thinking that being able to flood the pot, just like I do on my SOG would be a nice and easy way to it...

and get the solution evenly on the whole pot...

what do you think?

Here is the progression of things...

I now have 2 indentical 50 gal totes...

One is the res below..

The other is an ebb/flow tray with fill/drain and overflow tubes...

The blue pot just sits in the tray and floods and drains... I am considering taking some of the volume out of the tray with jugs of water... but it does reach the top just fine... the pot itself displaces more than enough...

So here she is in the original form, in the flopped design...
I had coiled a hose with holes from the bottom up... no water ever reached the top...

The we see her as she spent the night with a top feed...:-P

And now we have the final and tested ebb/flow set up under the Adjust-A-Wing'ed 600HPS...:-P :weed:

So..

How's this for a trim job Bro?

I have a feeling someone might say I went just as tad too far too late in the game...

But that was 100% pure instinct...

Now tell me everything I did wrong please.....

And here's our girl... :weed:

Hey mate, been away for a few days buy im back.

You really went crazy with the scissors on that budding plant lol.

Looks like you got her all spead right out now and by the look of it she is going to need a bit more vegging yet. We want all those lower new growths on the branches to turn into main colas aswell.

Plant number one is looking good too.

I'm really working hard to get things done here mate...

This week I should have light#2 and plant #1 mimicking the first set up...:o

lights 3 and 4 to follow as I empty the SoG...

Really? You goin to stop the sog?
Well... I can only have so many lights in this joint...

and I have been scared man...

300+ plus plants just doesn't sound good...

I learned it... I can go back to it anytime... one tray at a time if I want to re-instate it...

But I want to become a better grower...

I want to have beautiful big and healthy plants like yours...

I figured I can do a 4 tree rotation... keep a perpetual harvest every 2 or 3 weeks... and end up with the same G/W...

And I love to experiment...

I would love to have some trees that are half sativa half indica...

You know anything about grafting?

I have a buddy that has real experience putting different apples in the same tree...

Wouldn't that be cool...

just keep a MASSIVE trunk going with HUGE roots... and just "plug" in different branches from different trees...

ok... I woke up...:o

back to work..:lol::clap:

300 plants just seems like a ridiculous amount and if you get caught with that many in some places the consequences can be harsh (not sure about your laws though but mine wouldnt look too kindly upon it :(). With multiple rooms and less plants im sure you could still get yourself a nice yield regularly once you get everything sorted and dialed in so to speak.

Oh yeah as for grafting I have never tried but I dont even like starting off clones so I prefer to get clones from others that are already to go. If I wasnt working and had more time to dedicate towards growing then I think grafting would be interesting and would be fun to try.

For now im happy with not having any plants to worry about

Bro...

the difference in punishment here in AK is HUGE if are above/below 25 plants...

I'm tired of worrying...

I love SoG... it is a very good way to grow...

But I have had a dream...

And when gypsies dream... we become aware of things...

Based on what I gathered... it is most certainly time for a different path...

I figured I can do under 20 and be happy...

and not dream of having that same dream again... if that makes any sense...

So here's what I am thinking..

I will have a veg room with a small ebb flow tray and 14 plants... 2 of each strain...

in the same veg room there will be a 19 gallon pot (possibly up to 4) with "the flavor of the week" vegging ... getting ready for flower...

As I harvest a tree... I will move the 19 gallon pot from veg to flower...

and move the next "flavor of the week" on the 19 gallon pot...

I can have the plants do most of their vegging vertically, and open them up as we did with this one... and allowing the 2 weeks for the roots to spread...

I guess I am basing this on my experience with zero veg clones...

I put a clone into flower with a NUB of root... and when I harvest, I have a solid mass that will not drop a single clay pellet...

so the roots grow fast and hard on my little pots...

I'm talking about transplanting as we did with this one... with an already established healthy and thriving rootball...

did you see this pic? that's 2 weeks of growth in mt veg room...

I dare say these plants are not rootbound...

what do you think?:-P

So veg the like this... in little pots...

transplant to big pot 2 or 3 weeks before flower?

maybe I am all screwed up and not counting something... seems too easy...

Plant #1 is next... I'm hoping to get the supplies today...

Light #2 is hung... not running... no need...

I now have 2x 6" 440cfm fans for exhaust...

Since I will have the lights considerably higher than in the SoG, I am considering ditching the aircooling...

I loved it cause I could have my buds touching the glass... but if I do that, I will not have the coverage... 6" from the light is just too close for the trees I think....

we'll see if I can manage the temps... my house is cooking right now... the walls are radiating so much heat...

the house is just so damn tight... we do everything we can to keep the heat in!!!

then the one week of peak summer... shit... everything cooks...
