Harvest and drying question

I know this question has been asked a million times and I basically know what everyone will say but I still need to hear it again. I'm 3 grows in already, soon to start my 4th and I always seem to have the same problem. My first time I dried entirely too fast and my second I'm sure I trimmed and jared too early..my last and most recent grow this was the problem: while growing and blooming my buds smelled the way that they were supposed to even up until hanging to dry.the next day I checked them while they were hanging up and drying, and they smelled like plant and I dried for 6-7 days until buds were crispy on the outside and the stems just about snapped.I then cut buds off the stems and jarred them,I burp twice maybe 3 times a day,and its been about a week and they smell a tiny bit better.but not what they smelled like during flower, and surely not the way they are suppose to smell.what am I doing wrong that my buds dont smell how they should? I only ask this because I have sold and traded clones of this strain and most of the people I give it to have made the bud come out way better than me (the strain is dr greenthumbs bubba kush). (so I know how the bud should smell). some of the people that have grown it do not even cure it they just dry it and it still smells and smokes phenominal.also a few of my other friends have told me with their grows that their buds dont ever smell green or plant like and if it does the plant smell is so minimal that you cant tell, they also say that they dont cure, that they just dry for 6-7 days.(my friends grow some kind of diesel strain). I know that certain strains have stronger smells regardless, but I dont understand why my buds always smell green or plantlike and people who have gotten these dr greenthumb bubba kush clones from me produce superior tasting and smelling buds only drying and not curing...one of my friends that grows the diesel strain says that the one time his bud smelled a little green or plantlike is because he fertilized a little more than he usually does and that could be the reason that my bud smells this way... and we all use Dwc grows, but my friends use different chems... I was using cns 17 grow, bloom, and ripe and hormex... using no more than 5ml per gallon of water(I dont know if the chems have anything to do with the final outcome of smell and taste though)...I have found so many different explanation and it's confusing so I'm hoping that someone can help me so that I do not encounter this problem for a 4th grow and harvest, please help....

Mine doing the same thing, smelled like weed up until harvent than had a giant hay odor, dried correctly put in jars burp a few times a day but after a week now the hay smell is all but gone and I can somewhat, very slight, smell weed again. I just think it is a process that you must wait out. Good luck

i ask because some people say that the smell will return with a good cure and some people say that it wont no matter how long you cure, and its been curing a week and the green plantlike smell isnt as strong as it was during the dry but its still doesnt smell like the product that others have produced with the same strain and they got the clones from me

Cut and hang.. do not cut any bud related sugar leaves, the ONLY leaves I cut anymore is the ones that are not connected to bud sites before hanging. Cut the branches off big as you can and hang just like that for 2-3 days I hang mine in card board box. Trim when they are crispy, trim nice and easy and the smell is always there, even before jarring and get better with every day in jars.

MY relative humidity is 40-45% most times near my rooms, so I need to slooow it down more then most, as my buds will get crispy and never really cure properly until I tried this method. Now its top quality every time, never crispy at end, rock hard etc.. just nice spongy dank smelling buds.

I used to dry for 3-4 days then jar, now it takes about a week to get to jars for most strains. Not too bad for a better smelling and tasting bud.
