Harvest with Boiling Water

A friend of mine told me about this, he hasn't tried it yet and I forget where he heard it from but it goes like this. At harvest, shake all soil, or as much as you can, from the root ball. Then dunk the roots into boiling hot water for a minute. Remove and then immediately chop the roots off and hang for drying. Sound crazy? Anyone try it?

You didn't mention what this is supposed to achieve...

Although, I can tell you right now, this is a stupid idea. I could get into why... but it's not worth it. No offense to you, this is just one of those stupid lies you hear from time to time about a magical way of doing things to get better smoke, just grow it well, don't burn the shit out of your plant, harvest at the right time, dry and cure properly and you'll have good smoke. It's more simple than some people make it out to be....

yea thc is formed mainly in the first 4weeks of flower..it might make the thc level go up a little bit but i doubt it..If u want to shock ur plant the old school way bang a nail through the trunk a week before harvest

It's actually mostly formed in the last four weeks, during the first four weeks the buds aren't even 1/4 of the way formed yet. A nail through the trunk? No thanks.

The only thing that boiling the roots achieves is to shock the stomata closed, which slows the drying process a bit. Of course, this really only works if you hang the whole plant to dry with fan leaves intact. It allows for a more even drying phase, resulting in smoother smoke, but that's about it. Not at all worth the hassle. Just dry slowly.

so ur point of view is if someone SOAKS the roots in boiling water it will make ur bud dry faster lol i say it will make it dry slower since u just watered ur plant pretty much right before harvest
