Harvesting a Single Bud

Oh I don't plan to lose the entire thing, however that would be a real shame. I can ride this one out until it's ripe for harvest, and I even have more vegging plants to replace it's spot in the flower tent. The main thing is that i hate to consider myself impatient, I just feel like I need this medicine as soon as I possibly can consume it. So that's the main reason I started this thread.
Lol, my first grow i wanted to go too long just to see what too long was. Id read all over riu that everyone harvests too early so i let my strain go a couple weeks longer than it was supposed to. It was fine, good even. Now people criticize me for chopping at 55 days on a 55 day strain lol, but for me speed of the flower is a big bonus so I seek it out. I have a bit of practice pushing the clock though and thats another reason I take testers.

When it comes to harvest time, we are all impatient. Learning patience is a positive side effect of growing imo.

Also the plant is only in 1 gal plastic pots. The leaves are really starting to yellow in places now, but the buds are looking really good and healthy it seems. I'm not an expert examiner though, as this is my first plant.
On the positive side, I have 2 living clones of her in veg so I have preserved the genetics, and also I have other strains to replace the spot in the flower tent. So taking all things into consideration, it will turn out okay for me either way in the long run

If you see cloudy trichomes, pick one of the bottom little fluffy popcorn buds. Hang it to dry for a 3 days and smoke it to test potency. Otherwise leave her alone.

My relative humidity in my room and my tent is between 15-25% all the time if that matters.
Hopefully this picture does the plant justice

One more question: should I cut a entire sample branch or only pull off one bud from a the top or middle of a branch?

Dont take branches, just pluck the tiny popcorn and the stem on it. Make sure trichomes are cloudy under a jewelers loop or youre just wasting your time.

I wouldn't take a damn thing off. Maybe a few popcorn nugs a few weeks down the road but for now there is nothing to smoke! I dont see any lock-out issues, she's probably just hungry.

Do you guys really think I have 3 or 4 more weeks to go? I'm on day 48 from flipping 12/12. that would make 80 or 90 days in flowering

I'm still new, but from what I've been seeing in my own grow, you'll want to wait until more of the pistils turn orange and retract into the calyxes. Once this happens, the calyxes will start to puff up like they have seeds in them (but don't), and the buds will start to look less hairy/full of pistils. I think after that stage, consider looking at the trichs, or at the very least, wait until you see a couple amber ones and she's probably ready for what you're looking for. I like lots of amber in my case... :)

Today makes a complete 8 weeks in flower for the white widow from cannabisseeds dot com. I think I have some clear and some cloudy trichomes. It's my 1st plant but I really wanted to strive for the racy effects of the milky white trichomes, because I'm gonna be doing activities when I use. Im thinking about cutting the most mature bud (besides the top) to dry and cure in a jar, to compare to the final result. Is 56 days enough, in other words will this test bud be smokable once I cure it? Will upload a fresh pic of plant, budsite, and trichomes in 2 hours when lights on. Thx
