Has Anyone Attempted The 6 Hr 40 Min On/ 12 Hr Off Schedule?

me and a buddy once did a grow with no timer.. Just tried to keep a general rule of 12 on / 12 off ..to the best of our ability.. Sometimes the lights would be on for 7 hours, sometimes 8, sometimes 10, sometimes 12... and the plants turned out fucking great.. Everyone says they'll turn hermie, they'll turn hermie.. Well I guess we just got really lucky? With three different strains and no hermies..

I personally think you can use any amount of light time under 12 hours.. As long as its not on more then 12 hours it will stay in flowering and grow.. You have to remember light is the plants food though.. So less light will equate to less growth.. 12 hours of light is optimal for your maximum quality yield.. But you can grow with probably 4 or 5 hours of light I bet..

yea I'm in the process of doing my first grow and this looks very interesting, but I think I'm gonna stick with the 12/12 thing for now....I just really don't wanna mess em up and I know the 12/12 thing works. I really do wanna see some results on this site from this though cause like I said it does look interesting.

Check some ofthe links from my earlier posts. Results are already there. :peace:

Can this be done from seed? When would you switch 12on/6off to 6on/12off? After maybe 3 weeks after sprout? Then from there you would have about 45 days of till finish?

I know it can be done from clone. Seed, notsure & I dont want to give you any bad info. You may want to veg it as a seedling for 7-10 (normal 18/6) days but if from clone just root it & do the cycle. :peace:

Hey Sean,
I got my timer today! Yeah!

Gonna go on and try the modified lighting for this grow... We'll see if it will really save me 2 weeks. I am at Day 12 now, so figure there should be 6 1/2 weeks left. Wondering if with the new lighting schedule, it will only take 4 1/2 weeks?

Guess we'll see...

Seems like another form of stress training.
I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if it works, but I doubt the claims of higher yields.
I await the results.

Thanks for the input white widow. I read about this on icmag. It works just as a normal light cycle. I cant wait to see howyour grow turns out using this. This will be the future for growers. no spikes, different lighting times. Excellent. I believe the reason why your computer is so slow on advanced nutrients is because I believe they shut down the AN forums section. Anyway keep us posted on the 18hr schedule grow. Also the beautiful thing about this is that you wont get any hermies once your environment is kept correct. :peace: The same principles as 12/12

Hey SFSean - I never was able to find more info on the light schedule from Advanced Nutrients or ICMag, can you IM me the thread or article you got the timing schedule from.

BTW - got every one of the times scheduled with no problem, this new timer is much easier to use than my other ones.

If you look in the prevous posts of this thread Ive copy & pasted some of the related articles. Since they closed dow the advanced nutrients forum their articles are no longer available. Let me know, I believe they are like 3-4 pages back. :peace:

Ok Im in, I did It, I programmed the timer and it set to start the 9:36/12 schedule in about an hour. My plants are more than 3 weeks into vegging and their huge. Im already worried that they will overflow out of the tent. Check out my grow journal

Mine had to go like this since I needed the timer to still go out at the same time tonight.

Day 1 On 1:12 - Off 22:48
Day 2 On 10:48 - Off 8:24
Day 3 On 20:24 - Off 18:00
Day 4 On 6:00 - Off 3:36
Day 5 On 15:36 - Off 13:12

With that schedule you only need 5 on/off settings.

Day 1 On 1:12 - Off 22:48
Day 2 On 10:48 - Off 8:24
Day 3 On 20:24 - Off 18:00
Day 4 On 6:00 - Off 3:36
Day 5 On 15:36 - Off 13:12

suscribed too, very interesting indeed, especially as i'm currently in a rush to flower, only have about 6-7 weeks unfortunately. if i'm lucky maybe more depending on some things. hope this works. just a quick question, i started 12/12 yesterday cos i had to wait fot the plant to increase in size a bit. will it be ok to switch to this lighting schedule without inducing too much stress. really dont want a hermie.

i think this would work, i have a feeling it may decrease yields depending on conditions ofcourse. i dont think the 24hrs not adding up is an issue. like a guy previously said 600million years ago a day was only 21 hours. plants don't have a clock as such. what they do is have hormones which are produced depending on light exposure. and the amounts of these hormones determines what processes the plant undergoes and carries out. so as long as the plant is exposed to enough light to produce energy for budding, i think it should be ok. (the hormones that are produced in the dark, once reached aat certain levels causes plant maturing/flowering etc i think). the plant just needs time for the hormone production to take place.

i've started mine also and mine is quite a long flowering strain. around 85 days apparently. i will let you guys know when i harvest.

from further reading and the sites someone posted, i think this will work well. great for users who require quick flowering. very suitable on the SOG method i think.
