Michigan if you really do want to visit.I'm sure there are quite a few cities that have crap all over the place though.
I know it's hard to take somebody's word over the internet, especially about cannabis. But I know my shit and I know the real deal when I smoke it. Trust me, I remember the days when the best shit got shipped out here from cali and we were getting ass raped for it, but times have changed.
Yep, I'll put my Michigan genetics (or at least Pheno selection) up against anyone's. We're doing really great things here, if you're ever out here, check it out. My second run ever, of Grape Stomper OG, was putting AzaMax reps into a daze and had to tap out on half a doob. It was comparable to every top shelf sample of clubs I went to (if not better than some).

OP - I agree that genetics are #1, but your claim about quality genetics outside SoCal is so laughable.

IMAG0155.jpg I've got 2 Black Hole (Purple Mayhem x Vietnamese /Thai landrace) that are going to be really interesting. The Purple Mayhem is a true breed purple, and the landrace (wish I had more info on it, was from a small unnamed release). My PK didn't really turn purple, had some darker notes for sure though. Tasted and smoked great, but was crap for yield. Looked just like that, minus the purple. Dropped it for the Grape Stomper OG and couldn't be happier. I would have had another run of those in, but the clones I was expecting got lost to a slime in the res. Had to take these as a stop gap, and they were too big to train how I prefer.

I knew how you would respond. And yes I have been to Amsterdam. Absolutely loved the place. But even they knew that they did not have any OG my friend.
Well... they do, but still call it by the original names, hindu kush, master kush, afghan kush.. It's part of the oldskool cheap grass type of "weed" we stopped smoking here 15-20 years ago and dropped of the menu at most shops.

Until recently anyway... apparently so many american tourists have been asking for OG Kush in Amsterdam that you can find shops now with OG crosses at the top of the menu, as or even 1€ more expensive than far superior 10-12 week haze hybrids. Nuts... It's like a dutch guy going to Belgium and ordering Heineken beer.

Purple Kush is originally from BC, not California, so blame Canada.
I'm not blaming anyone (or anywhere?). Just naming a strain that I know is or was big in California that didn't satisfy my needs. It actually was real good smoke, but the concentrate seemed to taste different than the flower and I didn't like it.

The GSOG (in the pic) didn't purple up either, despite dropping to around 65 at "night" and 78-82 during the day. But it did produce, and it was fire. It's the Black Hole that I'm interested in seeing finish up in my room. I've smoked it both indoor and outdoor, and it's a really nice smoke.

That's cool, you using LEDs or HID lights? I have never heard of the black hole strain.

LED. The Black Hole is from a promotional pack of seeds that my friend got. It took him a few attempts at contacting the breeder to get any info on it. The gist of it was the Purple Mayhem (Which is a Gooey strain, I believe) crossed with a South African/Thai/Vietnamese (I'll have to ask again for specifics) Land-race strain. Produces well, is main cola dominant, and finishes in 8 weeks. Purple_Mayhemzzx.jpg

I like afgooey, great strain. Those look pretty promising, have you ever grown GDP? If not you might want to give that one a try as a purple strain, its the original :)

I'm sure I'll end up with a GDP eventually. No one in my immediate circle is running it, that I'm aware of. Due to my limited setup, I'm only using clones... I'm still salty about the loss of this fantastic GDPxC99 that one of my associates had. That one was something else...

That sounds tasty, sucks he lost it. GDP is a really tasty cut, probably my favorite purple cut, I also enjoy grape ape.

I've got a nice roster coming out next run. A couple WiFi OG, Sunshine Daydream (different cut than the popular release, has a different dad), and these Black Hole. After that, I'm getting my hands on a Kali Snapple x SSH. The plant in veg already smells like a citrus party.

I am originally from Long Beach, California. I moved to Washington 3 years ago. I have grown thousands of plants here in WA. The only obvious difference I see is the flower structure. Cali has OG or Kush in just about everything. Its mostly an aesthetic thing. Density has very little to do with potency. I have grown some dank shit out here...

Incidentally, the only thing I miss about California is the sunny warm weather. That cali sun makes growing cannabis outdoors so fucking easy...
