Heat Issues?

As I am gathering my thoughts on an appropriate plan and reading up a good deal, I have come across alot of conflicting information regarding heat problems.

Suppose I am interested in the tent known as "Homebox S", its measurements are 31" 1/2, 31 1/2, 63". That is about two and a half feet by two and a half feet and about five feet tall. For thorough light penetration and dense-ish yields, I would naturally opt for a 400 watt mh/hps conversion ballast. Can I expect heat issues in this space even if I keep a fan running inside and an intake/exhaust setup?

I have read and viewed many videos&articles that say Yes and No, so I am unable to come up with my own conclusion. Im guessing the only reason for such varied information is because each has their own ventilation.

But, if I can squeeze a light in that space with no heat problems what so ever, could I safely press my luck and try and squeeze that 400 into a homebox XS for some really hard nugs?
(specs for the Homebox XS are; 23" 1/2, 23" 1/2, 47 1/4)

Minus plant size and what not, I have techniques in mind to manage that.

Oh, and just to entertain curiousity, I'm looking at Mandala's Sadhu for a nice medicinal, and economical, crop.

LOL ok no worries I got both of you. I jsut fixed the exact problem you guys are going through. My tent is a dR100L which is rounghly 3ftx3ftx6ft. I upgraded to a 600 watt digital ballast with switchable bulbs and when I put it in my temps went up to 95F. So i was pissed. I have a 6" carbonfilter and a 6" exhaust fan with 3 passive air intake vents. So what I did to fix this......... ok so I know it is ghetto but dont laugh. i took a 25' 4" flexible duct and taped it to a airconditioning vent in the room its in and ran it from the vent to the bottom duct hole. Now the fan I use is on a speed controller and I set that on medium and put the vent in. Now technically (well in my crazy mind) this seems to me as a intake fan. The temps in my tent rigth now are 82F. now I am not saying taht this is the right thing to do but it worked for me.

Ohh I do plan getting a aircooled hood for the bulb in a couple weeks but like I said this was cheap and ghetto

good lucks guys.....if you like the ghetto rig do it up. Home depot ducting was $15

I was hoping I would get an answer rather than a question. But if you would like some friendly advise, I'm glad to throw my pennies. Just keep in mind that I'm having difficulty judging this subject accurately enough for myself, but I have read. Alot.

It seems, to ME, that that is a bit too much heat you have there. I immediately have to ask; What temperature is the room that contains the tent? Nearly 100 degrees seems to be overkill, even for that area. Try adding atleast another intake to get more cool air coming in, or atleast upgrade the one you have. Also, I'm sure your exhaust is near the top and that your intake is near the bottom... Right? Hope so. Is there any other electronics in the tent and near the lamp? Such as power strips or things of the like that might also get warm?

Edit: Bongkong, just saw your post. That certainly is some creative thinking, and I would try it to keep some girls living during a problem period, but I couldn't do it in my situation. I definately see the logic, but this one is a stealth job. That sounds perfect for a whole closet grow tho!
