Help identifying trichome colors please!

Hi everyone,

I have this Gelato OG that I *think* started stepping into the harvest window. I took those pics with a digital microscope and i think so many trichomes has started turning cloudy. I need your help with:
  1. are those cloudy trichomes around 50 - 70%? should i start the flush preparing for the harvest?
  2. since this is an indica hybrid, should i wait to see few amber trichomes (around 20-30%) so i get the maximum ripeness and harvest at peak?
Thank you all for your much appreciated help
Some are milky but most are clear.. i would say its not readdy yet.. wait until its all milky and u see abit of amber

As ever gentlemen, mixing searching and youtubers renders sometimes confusing results or is it relative to personal preference matter?? I dunno!
My question is simply what is the allowed ratio on amber trichomes in an pure indica and indica-hybrid? .......Sativa i know.... everyone agrees it is 70%:30% cloudy:amber, but indica is confusing me. Thanks again for the input.
BTW..those pics from the Gelato OG just this morning..looks like amber just started as well.
There seems to be allot of clear trichomes there. Make sure you are examining the buds, not the leaves. The leaves will deceptively have amber when the buds don't. I like a 10 to 20 percent amber but it really comes down to preference and strain at that point.

@Doug Dawson I just the the microscope on the very tip of three big top colas, so those must be sugar leaves! But I will examine out again later today.
Got it! Do so indica is allowed some amber.. Great

If there is one thing I learned so far from all this, it is: everything is relative and nothing is carved in stone. So some people will say yes and others will say no. I think it makes sense however I gave my final feeding today and I think I will just water those girls for those remaining 7-10 days, until their water break

I like as close to all cloudy as possible, but a few amber is fine. If you shoot for all cloudy you can get your two basic affects (daytime and nightime) by strain. Maybe a 70/30 indica to sativa for nighttime and something higher in sativa for day time smoke.

70:30 is ratio between cloudy to Amber? Is this what you meant @SheeshM ?

Great looking plant!
May I ask what you are using to get those pictures?
Probably with something like this, clips on the phone. Not expensive, not that quality, although there are some excellent digital microscope and there are 3xcellent pics here on RIU with members that have taken amazing pics and can tell you the names of them. Look in the 2020 Massachusetts Outdoor Grow thread, back a few days ago
