Ladybirds eat black fly, would be the most natural way of getting rid of it or you can buy sprays to control it.

It's ladybugs...and yes they work great...but he probably has an infestation where he needs to take care of the larva in the soil, your plant will die if it's fungus gnats, the larva will kill the root system. Go to a nursery and get something to get rid of them...it's a common problem even in houseplants so asking for help won't make you look like a grower.

In the future...everytime you water use a capful of 3% hydrogen peroxide in every watering...that will help with any diseases that may occur, and definitely help with any fungus gnats moving into your soil later on.

Another way to help get rid of those pesky gnats is to let the soil dry out more then usual, then use what ever method you have decided to go with and water like normal.

If it's fungus gnats, stop watering. Place slice(s) of raw potato on the soil surface. Leave a while. Lift and look. Larva will be in the potato. Toss in toilet. Replace. When potato(s) come up clean two times in a row, they're gone.
Fix your watering routine. These are the result of not letting your top soil dry out enough between waterings.
Try not to water until all the adults (flying around?) are gone. Fungus gnats have a five day lifespan.

Please pass this on, as I'm tiring of typing it, but wanta help.
If you notice an gnat during a grow, and water while it's still flitting about, odds are it'll lay eggs in the wet soil before dying.

I just told him...so you basically wasted your time for no reason, however...the potato method is great, but not always...doing that method as well as something meant to kill them will be perfect for him.

hey fellow rollers i have gnats as well little bastards, but you can cover the top of your soil with a layer of sand about 25 mm to stop the adult flys from digging into your soil.:peace:

no i take other actions as well but i didnt mention it because i dont if you would have the same pesticides in your country as well as i dont know the medium you are growing in so it could be tragic for your plant, but the sand works you can also use sawdust but be careful with sawdust no treated timber you would want to use natural pine it also has great natural cleansing atributes.:peace:

Yep, mites, and it looks advanced. Bummer.
I look for those "dots" on my lower growth (where it starts) every time I look at 'em.
You must.

Well, first you need a contact killer, then neems, then a follow up for eggs, more neems, OR I'd try the tobacco/nicotine tea widely posted on RIU first.

It's reported to wipe 'em out right quick, unlike commercial products.

I think you basically bring several ounces of preferably untreated tobacco to a boil in X amount of water, leave it overnight, strain it, MAYBE add a drop or two of soap, then spray away!!!
