i have a kit where the compost substrate comes in a filter bag. i notice some condensation on the bag and and compost appears to be moist. Is this a problem or will it cause contamination

it should be moist... leave the bag wrapped tight until you have a considerable amount of colonization.. then the bag will want to inflate on its own..
if you have any stale air in the bag before you inoculate THAT could lead to contamination even if it has a filter patch and was sterilized.
if the bag doesnt have a self healing injection point you can make your own by putting a dime sized spot of silicone gel (clean spot of bag first with alcohol)let dry, shoot up through that.

If the substrate is too wet it will take longer to colonize, which can lead to contams. As long as you don't have standing water in the bag you should be okay. Condensation on the upper portion of the bag is normal. Good luck.

Where did you order the kit from?

yea if you ordered from a decent place they probly use a proven substrate mix, and yes.. standing water is BAD... the mix should be at "field capacity"
