Ya OP,

If you're able to slide in the pipe with ease when it's not in a bucket, you're uniseals are the problem.

It can be the seals or the pipe. Not sure why or for what but there are pipes that have different OD's. But the thin plastic and the hole you cut isn't the issue but they may be one in their own later. I've had great success with uni's even though most told me they were garbage.

From my understanding, Uni seals are designed to be used with buckets < rounded > and bulkheads are better suited for flat totes. Having said that, both can be used with either bin. Your pipe should be very hard to insert in the Uni seal as this is the main compression against your cut hole. In fact usually some lubricant or dish soap is needed and another tip is to sand the outer edge of your pipe to help get it started. In your situation it is probably easier to find pipe to fit the Uni seal but if you do decide to switch seals, go with bulkheads with those totes. Good luck.

I wish beginner builds would just recommend bulkheads from the start. While uniseals may work in certain situations they are far less forgiving. Save yourselves the trouble. Building something like a rdwc you have other things to worry about.

All drill bits or hole saws will make a hole slightly oversize. Try 2-7/8" hole saw and make sure it spins true in the chuck.

Great advice. Sand away slowly until you get a snug fit.

Thank you all for the advice & sorry for the delayed response. I am going to reconsider my whole setup in general as the last thing I want is a flood...
