OK...I think we have it all cleared up. I spoke to him.

The Main panel os OK. The sub panel needs the 2 15a SP's replaced with a double pole. The breaker with the blue handle isn't being used and the other two breakers (top left of the sub) are 2 diffefent circuits.....1 for the furnace and 1 for who knows what.

You guys can help him out with identifying supplies....romex, connectors, boxes, covers, receptacles, blah,blah, blah.

Good Luck!

only the dryer should be changed to a double pole, the 2 15 ampers on the left look to be 2 seperate circuits so its fine, and the blue breaker is just another breaker for another circuit, nothing special
If the two 15a on the left are two separate circuits, than I should think they are fine, but I was kind of thinking it is probably the blower motor for the furnace, which may be 240v...if so, should be double pole.

Apparently the blue breaker is just another circuit which apparently isn't being used (delusional said it was off.) Might be worth figuring out what it is used for because if it isn't needed, you could disconnect it and run a new circuit in the grow room with it.

Please make sure you verify the power is off before you start touching anything!!!

if u were to have 10 1000 watt lights and a room 24 x 24 and all the other good stuff... how can u maximize the amount of pounds grown? how much plants will be ideal to grow the most amount of pounds of white widow and sour diesal (or how much plants per light)? whats the best spacing for growing in this room? how much pounds would u be expecting? don't worry about the lighting cost or being bait* that will be tricked. and please add any tips or secrets u may have for maximization of plants growth

Hey Grindin.grinder - these question sshould be asked in a different thread. This tread is about electrical issues.

Peace and good luck.:leaf:

Yeah I'm waiting on a call back from the old homeowner, I was curious to see what that blue 15a was and why the furnace was using two seperate breakers.

id get the cables or just look around for em myself, they are pc powercords right, just look for a pc store and see if they have em, they should be like 2 bux
Yeah, they're pc cables.... Never seen a PC cable for 240 though. I'll look into it.

the blue one could be an old caped off line not being used or an outdoor plug

are you sure a furnace is on the 2 15 amp breakers on the left of the sub panel? both the wires are black and look to be going to 2 separate 14/2 cables, usually a furnace is 120 volts anyways not 240, could be one if for the furnace and the other something else

Quite possible. I'm not too worried about it. It's worked for the past two or three years, I ain't going to fuck with it. I will replace the dryers with a 2pole 30 tho when I get the materials for the new circuit.

some pc stores have em for people going to europe or for whatever, but you could probly order them online cheaper than 8 bux but i dont know if its even worth saving pennies on this

what will be the difference running a 240 outlet for the lights rather than a 120? less power consumption from the lights im guessing?

i doesnt do anything for you actual consumption, 1000 watts is still 1000 watts

you would need a separate breaker, cable and receptacle for each 1000 watt balast running on 120

breaker -> 14/2 cable -> 120 volt receptacle -> ballast #1
breaker -> 14/2 cable -> 120 volt receptacle -> ballast #2

or

breaker -> 14/2 cable -> 240 volt receptacle -> ballast #1 & #2

Well I just got back from home depot. picked up 2x 20a breakers and the two 120v receptacles. I'll wire it this way rather than hunt down the 240 pc cables or pay $8 a pop for 'em. The extra breaker cost $4 and change. Works.

The advantage of 240 volt is less heat.

if you are using a 20 amp breaker make sure you use 12 gauge wire and a 120 volt 20 amp receptacle

will do. i got all the stuff, ill wire it up tomorrow, or I should say later today. just spent the past few hours in there cleaning three years worth of junk..... lol

the 15a blue breaker controls three outlets wired into the ceiling down there in the basement, works out perfectly.

i'll be wiring two 20a 120v receptacles for the two 1000w ballasts, each with its own 20a breaker. and ill use the existing plugs down there for everything else.

sounds like you have it all planned out, looks like ittl work out great.

when doing the actual wiring, make sure not to nick or cut into the wire when you strip the insulation off the ends, bend the wire with pliers so its in the shape of a hook, pop that under the receptacle screws and tighten, make sure to ground both the receptacle box and the receptacle with the same ground wire thats in your 14/2 (DONT!! connect 14/2 ground to box then cut another wire to make a jumper from the box to the receptacle ground), make sure not to leave any wires loose, or any connection exposed.
best of luck, give us an update on your progress as you go along
do you have a journal??

Probably would be a good idea if you used GFI plug(s) in the area since you'll be around water.
