Hermie plant very well disguised- Reserva Privada

A picture is worth a thousand words so here it is

This is Reserva Privada's Purple Wreck strain. The strain is a cross between a T4 Trainwreck and Purple Urkle. It "was" infamous for turning hermie and Reserva Privada once pulled it until they had the problem under control. Well here is proof that the strain still has defects.

As you can see it was hard to determine that the plant was a hermie because of the pistils but its clear to me now that those are not buds. I think it has fertilized everything in my tent.

This is how I found out:
A couple days ago I pulled a nug off and dried it (I like doing that just to get an idea of what I can expect in the weeks to come). I Put the nug in my grinder and to my surprise I found a baby seed. I then rushed down to my grow tent and looked for the culprit. Took me about 10 minutes to find the pollen sacs because it seemed that everything was a bud and then I realized all the lower buds calyx seemed to be larger than the top buds. Upon closer examination I realized they were pollen sacs. I then looked at the other plants in the tent and so far my Afghan Kush has already started to produce seeds as well. My other 2 strains (Blue Mystic and Spicy White Devil) are too early in flower to tell but i think they will suffer the same fate. I have already pulled the PW clones and considered trashing everything in the tent.

What a way to bring in the New Years huh lol!

Wow I can't believe you made this thread. Last night, I discovered the same problem with my purple wreck. The pollen sacks were extremely well hidden, almost inside the bud itself. I found about 4-5 sacks throughout the plant and some immature seeds. It's not the end of the world man. The seeds will be pretty clear when you are trimming and all you need to do is cut them out and you will be fine. The bud will be fine. If the entire plant had like, exploded as a hermie then yea your entire grow would be full of seeds but only a couple pollen sacks should be fine.

Very dissapointed as I am in week 7, plant has just turned all purple and all was looking good. Fuckin Hermes. I am going to get some dutch master reverse and treat everything proactively from now on.

WTF is this? Dont clone from flowering plants...
???.
wrong info givin
alot of people like myself do grab clones from a flowering plant. i dont take many cutting in bloom because of strss but.over time u can prune u plant with no ill effect.
and u clone from a flowering plant usually the bottom branches with no real buds, take it and clone it like normal but the hormons from the flowerig plant will make it root faster and once it gets kicked to revegging itll explode with many tops and ull get a bigger yeild. try it out.

Mine is in week six. I think I'm done with this strain. Gives me a reason to order new seeds :D

Agree 100%.

Personally, I don't consider a few male flowers late in flowering to be a big deal. Lots of strains will do this. . .in fact, I'd go so far as to say most will, if you let them go long enough, even under perfect conditions.

What typically happens is you get a few male "banana" flowers snuck into large clusters of female ones during the last 2 weeks of flowering. They're quite easy to overlook unless you're examining the buds closely and frequently. IMO, its always a good idea to do that that the last few weeks anyway with any new strain or setup, just to check on trichrome maturity/development, check for bud rot (which can also be sneaky), and for this particular issue.

Sometimes you'll get a few immature ceeds, but much/most of the time you won't because it takes a while before the male flowers release pollen, and then it takes time for ceeds to develop. Sometimes these male flowers are sterile and don't make viable pollen, too. Its happened to me at least once where I didn't notice male flowers until actually trimming the buds. Even a few immature ceeds. . .eh. Of course you'd rather not have them, but unless you're trying to sell the stuff to a dispensary, I don't think it really matters. They're easily picked out and don't hurt anything.

If you get a few mature ceeds. ..well. . .free feminized ceeds!

What REALLY sucks is any male flowers EARLY in flowering. That's when you run into real issues, because a few overlooked ones can completely ruin a crop. If you do notice a few, AND you know for sure they were because of heat or light stress, you may be able to get away with just plucking them off. But if you get any real male clusters. . .that's instant mulch and strain into the blacklist as far as I'm concerned.

On cloning flowering plants, yes you "can" do that, but it typically takes longer for the clones to root, and they're much slower to get back into veg growth, coming "back" with one blade leaves, then three, etc. Its an OK way to try and "recycle" lower branches that you want to prune off, but its not the best way to take clones.
