Home brewed TGA genetics strain...dont have a name yet!!

hey guys. This is a strain that is really whacky.

It's genetics are The void by tga x (tga vortex x tga space queen)

It has been getting getting a bit cool at night in the room but the leaves are turning incredibly purple incredibly quickly with rather nice bud development.

These pics are day 19. Except the first. Thats day 17

Take a look, let me know what you think!

vortex space queen? sounds like a black hole if you wanted a literal name based on it's lineage. not the funnest name. quasars a big and bright black holes. galaxies orbit around them.

i like waiting until i try a strain before finalizing a name. it's like procreating, only quieter.

you do realize that it is not a strain? you can name the bud but not the strain, at least not yet you would need to stabilize it first imo and breed it around to create an F1 of it. so you have more seeds of the same hybrid? i would breed back to the parents, then both of those parent's new children bred with each other. thats a proper program and a nameable strain. but i would say thats some purp right there definitely worth growing:)
so how many generations are you from there male from current hybrid then x that by the void and (vortex space)

then you will have the descendants from both of those parents(hybrid x thevoid and hybridx(vortex space) and breed those together to create a stable nameable strain. so 3 generations away. i would call it cough syrup :)

So....get ready to flame me (because I know the possible consequences of this cross) but all the fathers so far have just been hermies. This plant came about purely by accident.
We found 5 of these seeds in a a Void plant that got banged by a hermie (vortex space queen cross that ALSO was fathered by a hermie)

So yes, to be clear

I KNOW THERE ARE HERMIE GENETICS IN THOSE SEEDS!!!!

HOWEVER!!! I think its worth noting that the other hermies came about in a different grow room that was light leaky as FUCK and experienced other environmental stresses.

My new room is totally 100% light proof, cleaner and I scour these plants like a hawk every day looking for the dreaded sacks. Another friend of mine also grew them, they were less purple but he didn't have any issues with hermies so that gives me a little more comfort. I am going to continue to keep an eye on these plants to make sure no one gets sexually confused, however I also dont plan on breeding this thing any further.

If it ends up looking real nice, with no hermie problems it's going to get re-vegged after harvest and turned into a mother for clone production. This is as far as I want to take the breeding of this plant.

nothing wrong with hermies if that is the case though your best bet to get rid of that trait and breed a good line of genetics would be to buy some more TGA reg seeds and find a male :)

no im not gonna flame you cause i know my shit about breeding and hermies have their purpose, plus they can produce just as good of bud as any female.

Ah somebody whose been properly educated, how refreshing lol.

Yeah, hermies arent all horrible and your right, the bud is frequently just as good

Looks awesome :D I have some of my own TGA crosses going too... basically seeds from a bunch of plants I pollinated with male Qleaner pollen...including a Jack the Ripper (this one is looking the best of the bunch so far)

i tell you, control freaks get so out of line here that they think they can even re-define what BREEDING means when anything that gets knocked up has bred. it's THAT SIMPLE. i think some of it just comes from people hatin' on others making an effort to grow something better than what they do. i don't know, but there's just too many members here that think everyone's gotta ask their permission to do their own thing.

i like seeing others cross whatever they have, even bagseed! it restores the circle of life, is doing things the natural way, and i honestly think there's nothing as happy in the world as a chick with a swollen belly. those gals try soooo hard to get knocked up making all that sticky resin trying to catch some pollen.

there's a lot of hate on TGA in particular from a few i've seen i think that's some kind of jealousy for all of the love his gear gets from many of us. jack's cleaner 2 kicks EVERYTHING'S ass i've wasted money on in almost 3 decades by a mile. it's even the best of what i've grown on my own so far looking only for strains that get me high. it's not only visual, which i wasn't really expecting from a 9 week strain, but i just love that warm and fuzzy touchy feely euphoria that's every bit as fun as trippy, but light and floaty columbian gold. i considered making that my next male, but even trippier probably malawi gold got more votes here and would be the start of some rare genetics few others are working.

was just stopping in to throw out some names, but i see i've already been here.

by all means, make them TGA crosses and tell us how they turn out. as i've read up on his operation, i see that despite what the liars try to say, he seeks out either elite clones for parents, or through his own vigorous selection. THAT'S why his strains are so popular... you start with some of the best genes in existence, you gear's gotta rock. 75% qleaner is awesome enough for me to know that the original can't be shabby and whatever the other strain was, ripper? that has to be great too.

there seems to be too much emphasis control freaks put on parental selection, even in other members' personal grows. most of us don't have the kind of space needed to test 50+ mothers, maintain a dedicated mother room, and a third room for male testing that's needed for serious breeding. starting with the best crosses to begin with is the best shortcut. if ANYTHING i've liked gets crossed with JC2, i would be surprised if it sucks, then there's that nice little hybrid vigor bonus that you lose when you stabilize.

rock on fellow pollen chuckers! it's your room! do your own thing!

one thing i want to do is keep on mutting up my original super cali haze x C99 cross i just knocked up with C99 x A11 in every grow and see what i get in a few years... no serious selection or goals even, just infusing new favorite genes every generation. i have some other crosses i want to make more deliberately though. i'm thinking of testing some of the stuff i've already made while i get up and running and using my 2nd gen cross as a male breeder just to say i've used my own male. as counterintuitive as it sounds, i'll chose the LAST male as my breeder as shorts recommends selecting recessive males to keep the rare traits going.

it's all good. it's all fun. don't mind the haters. they think they have a say in what anyone else does. the more someone tries to get you to go with a program, the harder you got to fight it.

A little N deficient over there for only being at 5th week. a little Nitrogen mixed in with feed will proably do her some good.

just don't overdo it. too much of a good thing can be bad too. in an ideal world, we could all just buy a big "5 gallon+" bag of good organics for each plant and put it outdoors for the ultimate in lighting and never need ferts or pest control.

Yeah, wouldnt that be the perfect world. Of course I dont want to over do it, thats why I added 10 drops to 5 gallons of feed lol. Its a sample bottle that I've had around for ages (couldnt find a use for it 'till now, WAY too concentrated to do anything but overcome deficiencies it seems) and I keep the PPM on the low side. Much easier and less time consuming to feed more of what they need once you see what they are telling you than trying to flush out and fix a burnt plant.

Heres a new pic of the two voids

it looks like you're on top of things. i've seen much worse than that! i'm not a fan of having to use ferts myself as they can affect flavor, even in minute doses. i DESPISE any blood meal, even a TINY pinch of crystal synthetic nutes per gallon can turn plants metallic tasting and i think it was the foul semi-petroleum smelling liquid kelp i used in my first grow at the recommended 1 tsp per gallon i used with EVERY watering that caused some unpleasant tastes in some of my buds. that, or some bogus organic soil with little chunks of all kinds of landfill looking crap like scraps of plastic.

i still need to learn how to balance nutes, but now i've also bought grow & bloom liquids that i learned you should only use every 2 weeks and kept my solutions on the diluted side. now that i've learned about SCROGging more, i might switch from 2 gallon buckets to 3 or 4 gallon ones and use fewer plants to give my gals big happy root balls that don't need much in the way of ferts. some plants, sativas in particular, don't seem to even like them. that could have been one of the issues i had with the fussy yellowing highland thais i tried to grow having to transplant them from cups to 1.25 gallon and even 2 gallons after that before they'd even sex! so much for the "wait until you show me that pooty before you get your 5 gallon bucket" plan LOL

if anyone knows of any good reads for soil mixes and organic nute regimes, i'd really like to learn more about that myself for top quality bud. i tell you, the absolute healthiest tasting LEAF (because that's what he was selling dirt cheap keeping the buds for himself) i've ever had was from a co-worker who used generic hyponex topsoil with pearlite and vermiculite and his own home made compost from vegetable scraps. i don't like that fucking "bark fines" shit you always get on the west coast at all. it's not real soil, and it drains too much. i had better results using a similar formula with manure instead of his compost. oh well, you gotta use what's on the market.

well, the hermie genetics have reared their ugly heads.

Found some 'nanners and even a seed (gasp!!) on the tall one so it came out of the garden 2 days ago and put into isolation.
Its getting flushed and harvested to be used for smokeables during the big trim (only 2 weeks away now) The other void is clear of any seeds or pollen and the rest of the garden seems to have made it out as virgins, thank god. (no pun intended)

That was just an update on where this strain is at. If the other plant continues without and sacks, I'm probably going to throw it in a 5 gallon bucket and start re-vegging so that it can become a future mother.

Cheers mates.

at least there's a bright side. bummer about the hermie, but at least you had backup. i never got to try my highland thai as my only chick had a dick. it took forever to show ANY pubes at that.

People come up with names for single seed grows all the time. Blue dream is a clone only strain cause some dude had a good seed that came from two parents and the bud was dope. Same with the original og kush and ecsd and so on...my buddy and I had some lemon skunk and ice plants that made a few seeds...we called the seeds 'iced lemon skunk' when we grew them out. And the smoke was great btw.

rofl - more tga ganetics is the LAST thing you need to try to breed OUT a hermie trait

sorry - no disrespect to the op - i love growing out banana beans

just...stabilize with MORE tga?
