horrible experience

Az2000 what makes their light sogood?
In the context of my post, it's not a cartel light. I.e., not one of the common variants of imported Chinese lights (rebranded, etc.). That puts it in a relatively small group of lights.

I agree DIY is a good option too. Some may have to rule it out due to time/talent restrictions. In that case, ruling out one of the few retail lights may not be productive. The OP seemed to suggest this line of pragmatism vs. principle when he stressed that his complaint wasn't about the light, just his treatment.

That's what brought the Seinfeld bit to mind. Probably an over-the-top comparison. But, if I were getting into LEDs and realized there are only a few good choices out there, and got on the "wrong side" of one choice (quotes suggestive of Seinfeld episode), I'd regret that. Especially when the provocation of the surely treatment is understood (the disconnect between "I can't wait 2 weeks, this is a deal breaker!" and "but, if you'd give me a discount on a bigger light in 2 weeks....").

I'm sure the OP didn't mean it to sound that way. But, anyone can see how it could strike the wrong chord. I think it's unfortunate the OP has lost one of a few choices over a misunderstanding during a time of stress (immediate flower demand, moving).

I never said they didn't use top bin components. All the name brand lights I've sourced the parts for them and can do them 15-60% cheaper.

you can build that exact light for under $350 for everything except a nice shiny sheet metal box... does the diodes or sheet metal grow the plant?
to buy 48 5w and 24 3w cree diodes and lenses will cost about $350 everywhere. Plus heat sinks, drivers, fans, wiring, etc....

There's comparable panels-onyx- Hans, at similar prices, and with the way that LEDs have gone from not being viable to viable and almost as good as HID, and then to where the DIYer can make something NEARLY as good tells me that within a year or two these pre-fabbed units might/could be obsolete, as well as the companies that make them...

I also just want to say that dude shouldn't have tried to sell me a light he did not have. I got INTO GROWING because I was tired of freaking paying money and either being disappointed with the quality or being shortchanged.

In areas of the country where it's not medical or retail yet this happens a lot. I am tired of it and it is unacceptable to be treated like that.

I also understand that MJ is like the wild wild west and there are no real controls here, hence the led forum itself and people constantly asking about crap China LEDs because they are cheap. That's why I posted, because everything I have learned has been VIA forums such as these. I like to see not only the good side, which you can see of a-51 with all of the grow journals, but the bad, which I had to experience first hand.

I have had nothing to hide and in fact posted screenshots from a private communication to show that I am not just a bser and so that y'all CAN FORM THIS OPINIONS fairly...I see a lot of support for the PRODUCT, but honestly just excuses for how grouchy or how touchy the owner of a-51 is...so if you have to make these excuses for the behavior of a CEO, and he thinks its okay to treat someone who is a small order with a lack of respect like this...that's just not good business lol. Just poor poor business practice, especially if he tried to sell me a unit he did not have.
In the words of Charles Barkley, this experience has been "turrible, just turrible."
:bigjoint::peace:

Edit*
Didn't the Soup Nazis business close down because of something to do with the chefs attitude in Seinfeld? I love that show but my memories hazy on that part lol

Edit 2*
I could just create a new email and new PayPal, but screw working with someone like this. I refuse to do so.

Edit 3*
I keep referring to myself as a small customer, but that's oversimplified if you realize that a "small" order is at least 200 USD..........

I think the point is made. My advice? Move on. As this drags on it looks more and more like a vendor bash thread. To many ifs and overreaching responses here. You made the point, now people are wallowing in it and you are straying from your tone in the very first email. Buy something else and let this go - life is too short.

Yeah, thankfully the community here is really great so I ha e gotten a lot of support and am doing more research.

I am in the solo cup grow challenge and had put my bean in the water cup Tuesday night unfortunately so I will have to pop even more for the comp because adding lights isn't allowed.
Getting more of these is not quite so easy, or as quick as I would like either :/

I'm still going to win that regardless :blsmoke:

I wouldn't be to sure about that VG I'vebeen practicing grows in solo cups for this comp. Better step your game up. I saw a post on another forum that was a solo cup comp but not as competitive or good as ours but the winner was later reveled to be a cheater where the soli cup had no bottom and there was a small hole in the platform with a pot of dirt under it to allow the roots to grow into it. They found it out because he never posted a pic holding the cup or in any position other positions. watch out for those cheaters, but yeah better step your game up... haha

Those onyx grow lights run hot because they are driven to hard, sadly the A51 LED is the best on the market right now.

No, you're incorrect. The company is responsible. The internal status of the company is of no concern to the customer. A51 shouldn't have accepted an order that they could not deliver.

And delivery status or not, that attitude is UNACCEPTABLE. The guy is not a supplier for A51; he is a customer, so he deserves the utmost respect. .It's as if this guy just deserves customer money simply for existing....nope, not in my book.

I can email those chinese companies all day long with stupid questions and requests for discounts and they will NEVER call me an idiot or belittle me-they want the $$ and they know they have to make my balls feel good before I let go of it.
