How about a Hawian Punch?!

First time poster/grower. I've got 11 High Quality Maui Wowie seeds to start me off. I am planning to take this one step at a time and after reading a lot of posts here thought i might be able to get a leg up from more experienced growers.

I have a full room available- either a 10x12 or a 12x15. I'd like to be able to grow them large enough to clone and fill the bulk of one room in a 3 month cycle. Is that possible?(to stretch the veg cycle long enough to grow many in one shot)

Anywhow, i don't want to get to detailed yet because the first priority is getting these seeds to sprout. I tried this once 10 years ago and couldn't get a sprout from bag seeds.

Here is what I have done so far:

Day 1
3 p.m. Place seed between 12 paper towels and two plates and moisten with room temp spring water.
Water again at 9p.m.

Day 2
9 a.m. Re moisten paper towels and placed open plate at 11 a.m. sun light

Please I would appreciate any tips and comments to help me through this.

Ok it's 11 pm. on day two and I have been continuing to read and made a few changes. First I moved my papertowel into a glass in the kitchen.

Now I've put my paper towel in a tupperware container on top of a heating pad on low.

Cant wait till morning. I am SOOO anxious to see them sprout A.S.A.P

yes- basically. I wet some paper towels once about a decade ago, and gave up after i had to remoisten them twice lol. From what i read it can take more than a week in some cases?

Here's what I know about the Maui Wowie strain so far:

Plant Height: Tall, Mostly Sativa
Buzz type: Stoney yet High, All-Around Buzz
THC level: Medium; 8-15%
Weeks Flowering: 8-10
Yield(Dried grams per square meter in a Sea of Green): 400-500
Harvest Month: September- October

Also lists them as OUTDOOR.... however i will be growing them indoors... ;)

Please comment if you would like to add anything- especially if you have experience with Maui Wowie!

i let my seedling get a nice lil 1/2 root before i put them in the dirt.

but if thier in the soil you can ither wait to put the light on them untill they pring up from the dirt. or you can always just keep the light on and hope it helps the pop up?

ok- thanks skunk. I'll wait on the light and soil a couple more days. In the meantime I found one and a half more sprouts today when i opened up my Tupperware to give them some fresh air. Added a little fresh water.

Day 4

I have 7 strong growthsfrom seedlings. Just airing them out cause the tupperware gets pretty warm n wet. I dont want the seeds to drown. In the mantime I'm trying to make a decision on a light. Its definately going to be 1000W...I dont know if I am going to get

a)MH system with HPS conversion bulb
b)HPS system with MH conversion bulb
c)conversion ballast system to take MH and HPS bulbs
d)used system on the cheap

Any opinions on these light system manufacturers- Econowing, Agrotech, Cool Sun, Large Horizontal,Sungro, Suntube, Super Sun 1 & 2, Vertizontal, Yield Master?

I'm looking at paying full price for one of those locally vs half price new from ebay VS. 1 lrg. /1000W HPS fixture (Hydrofarm)used /complete indoor gardening light set/w/ballast/aprox.24"x22"x12"DP. also ceiling auto tracking fixture for hanging light.both for $125.00?

Any opionins on best way to go for first grow?

You would be better off with say two 400/600 then one 1000w. 1K's put off so much heat so you have to keep them further away which deficient the purpose. Your going to want to have a veg and flower room. T5/T8 tube light setups are the same thing you can find at wal-mart for shop lights. Those kind of lights are much weaker, but you can move them within inches of your plant to maximize light. I would not bother with a conversion bulb. Maybe a 400MH with a 600HPS would treat you right. Your plants will be huge if you properly veg them for 3 months and they'll be up to your ceiling by the time your done flowering. You've got a lot of homework to do, but you've come to the right place! Hope that helps some.

Ya - i was reading you have to keep 1000W 4 ft away from plant and i was wondering what i was going to do once i hit the ceiling- my ceiling is 8ft. DO people use 1000W inside a home or in a warehouse? Will a 400w MH / 600W HPS give me coverage throughout an entire 8x10 room?

With that much room you'll want to use multiple 4 foot or bigger tubes for the vegetative stages. Just think about it how the light will rain down. It'll be strongest in the center and will fade going outward. Your going to have to divide the room some how or use a grow tent to make sure the flowering area is LIGHT PROOF. When a plant is in the dark part of the 12/12 cycle it can be stressed by even small amounts of light. Stress lowers potency, yields, and could cause hermaphrodites. I wouldn't be too worried about maximizing your usage of space because there are way more important things that will dictate your growing success.

Day 5.

I planted 6 sprouts in soil and lightly watered with spring water and placed in the sun.

I am still waiting for remaining 5 seeds to hatch.

I would really like to use up most of my space- but i need a bigger plant to make clones from.
As far as four foot tube go... Do they make MH or HPS in that size?

Ok I came home to find that 2 of my plants i left in the sun are LIMP!??

What happened? five others were left in the exact same sun and they are fine...- i think the highs were 93 F today in my area. Humidity 50-60%.

ANY IDEA WHY?

On the plus side... I got some new supplies today. Used- 1000W HPS HydroFarm Ballast and Fixture/Lamp and a 6RPM Hurst Lightmover $125, New- MH Conversion Bulb and Bottle of Fox Farm Nutes $129. I was going to follow your advice and get the 400W- but I couldn't pass up the deal.

more later...

BabbaBOoohey.

I woke up and all my plants are healthy.

8 are planted.

I scraped the remaining 3 seeds with a spoon, spring watered them and put them back in a tupperware on heating blanket.

Today will be plants first day on 18/6 of 1000W MH!

Pics as soon as you can actually see them with my camera lol.

IS it a problem to have 4 plants growing in one pot(3 inches apart)

when should I seperate to their own pot?

Just got a Moisture Meter and PH Guage.

PH of soil is just over 7.

Ph of spring water I am using is about 7.5

Not sure how close this is to what is needed...?

Moisture is between 3 and 4 on a scale of 1-10.

It is not recommended to plant them together. You will have root issues when it is time to separate them. Transplanting is already stressful enough.

yeah.

and why is your light so far above the plants?

maybe you should have used CFL to veg a lil bit then use your light.

btw what is that a MH? Or HPS?
