How Do I Mix Neem Oil For 1st Application?

I have outdoor plants in containers that keep geting all kinds of bugs on them including spidermites and thrips. I am continually cleaning out my box( privacy and protection box that I designed and built) and washing the leaves of my plant to keep finding more bugs. So I got some garden safe brand neem oil extract (70 percent) and I need to know how to mix and apply for the first time and follow up. Please.

not sure about the dosage mate , google it . but u can make your own pesticide "contact" spray just from using your kitchen supplies. mix 50%oil 50%dishwashing liquid into a spray bottle and shake.also if u ever need a fungicide =1part milk to 9parts water.

Hey stonia, I use Neem oil as well. A different brand, but it's still a 70% extract. Directions say to use 2 Tablespoons per gallon, which is what I've been doing for a couple of years now. I hear you can use up to 4 Tablespoons per gallon, but I've never tried it.

If you have an active infestation, I would suggest spraying your plants liberally and repeat the process 3 days later. Getting the undersides of the leaves is important.

Best of luck.

Edit: Make sure you use lukewarm water to help the oil and water mix properly. Keep shaking your spray bottle throughout your spray. Only mix enough to use immediately (within several hours).

I do 1 tsp neem oil and 1 tsp Dr. Bronner's Castille soap per 1 gallon of water. I water the plants and do not spray the leaves. It makes a mess and if you cut their life cycle at the soil level, you will soon see no flying gnats.

i mix 1 teaspoon per 2 litres and a drop of non perfumed washing up liquid ............shake shake shake

i'm not familiar with watering the plant with neem oil in the water....does this really help? I would think the oil would not be good for the plant (??)

small amounts are fine, the plant takes up the neem and protects against some insects and an external spray of leaves and stems will finish the job...........feeding asprin also helps

Thank u all. I sprayed the ladies down last night with 1 tsp neem and quarter tsp of dish soap. I haven't seen a moving bug and the ladies are looking good.

cool mate....neem is also good to spray on animals to stop fleas and mites...........good for skin complaints too..............its top stuff..

Neem oil is used as a nutrient as well as pesticide. I find it best to mix your surfactant in the water first, then add the neem. I do 1 teaspoon yucaa extract and 2 -3 tablespoons neem per gallon.
