How long does butter last in the freezer

Question, how long does medicated butter last in the freezer without losing potency, and being safe to use?

I made some butter about a year ago, and forgot about it. Want to know if it is safe to use, and will it keep it's potency?

its def. still good, may have lost some potency but i doubt very much, if any.
I'm more worried about getting sick. I know just because it's frozen doesn't mean it will last forever, and it being dairy, it concerns me.

As for safety, growing up my mom froze butter for extended periods of time (bc of sales) and we suffered no ill effects. I also ate raw cookie dough with no I'll effects... still do.

Shoot... you make something, I'll guinea pig it for you. If I keel over, don't eat it! :)

The rule of thumb for butter is 9-12 months past expiration date in the freezer, a year SHOULD be safe.
