Here in Waffle House country, we’d say “scattered, smothered and covered”

This, exactly: attack the constitution, and you attack the nation itself. We need to expand the definition of treason; we need a word that doesn’t require a foreign enemy and a declared war to designate, recognize, and deal with “home-grown” enemies of the nation and of its system of self-government.

You might consider reading Lysander Spooner's "No Treason" before you get too exuberant on what treason is or isn't.

I think the average amount of pardons for an outgoing President is 200+ if say you averaged 5-10 million a pardon including the odd freebee or charitable case that's still a nice exit package.
