how to vent tent?

hey guys I have a secret jardin dark room 100 and have no idea what I need to properly ventilate it, atm I have an open reflector light and that probably wont work, or will it? I seen a set up with an exhaust fan on top of the tent, ducting leading to the light, more ducting from the other side leading to a CF, is this all I would need to properly vent a 1mx1mx2m tent? another problem is that I will be growing in the room where I sleep, holes in walls are a huge no and theres also someone living above me, I feel pretty hopeless in this area, I cant seem to take the information in, am I on the right track? can anyone tell me what I would need? the grow isnt underway yet so I'll be patiently waiting for replies the help is needed!

I don't like the sound of your grow area, however, it is doable. Number one, a CF is mandatory in your SIT. As you said, have a passive intake at bottom wall of tent, hang an exhaust fan, duct to CF then exhaust into, unfortunately, your bed room. This will create negative pressure in tent and all air from tent has to pass through the CF to exit tent. Depending on light heat, you may need to duct hood separately.

I understand having my grow in the room where I sleep isnt ideal but I've grown and harvested before, used my cupboard with only oscilating fans, the plants had their problems but I somehow managed under a 400W.

this is a quick mock up of the setup I saw on another forum, cant remember where or I would get the original.

I will buy the appropriate light so I can pull air through the CF and out of the tent?

could you tell me more about the passive intake? even better, suggest where I would find one online?

I dont have the equipment right now and its a very new subject for me so bare with me.

thanks.

Oh. Gotcha. I'll sell you a passive intake for a $100. Just kidding. Passive intake is just that, its passive. If you have your exhaust fan at the top of your tent then air is passively drawn in through a hole at the bottom of your tent.

hahah had a feeling I messed up there, I could blame the weed but I wont :P

anyway, does it look like it would work? I'll be dealing with 400W max.

LOL, exactly this ^^^ If your hood has glass in it, you could just vent and duct the hood, HOWEVER, you can't scrub that air, cause it really never interacts with grow room odors. You would need two fans, sets of duct.

You have about an 18 cubic meter grow space Youll need a fan that can move all of that air at least every five minute. Keep in mind that carbon filters, ducts, and air leaks add to that number. I think a 54 cubic meter would be fine. Also venting into the same room as the tent is not getting rid of the heat. Can you run a 4 inch duct to a window?

the glass is optional though? along with the exhaust I'll obviously have regular fans for air circulation, leaving the door open slightly wouldnt be a problem either tbf.

I usually leave mine cracked when the light is on. Dont have an exhaust fan like I was mentioning :( Currently using a fan designed for keeping network cabinets cool. But the ambient temps here are too much for that little fellow. Gonna move it to an active intake whenever I get a real fan and CF.

from the pic it looks excactly the same as my setup, cf to hood to extraction fan.
ensure the fan is pulling as this will help move alot more than pulling would.
and try for 150mm or 6" cf, ducting and spigots on light to give that bit more juice.
also for odour control as for you this could be a huge problem,
you should try ona blocks (around 2 or 3) to help neutralize any escaping odours from when you feed or open tent for what ever reason.

glad to be of some help,
i am using a 1.2x1.2x2m tent at the moment, but i also have the dr100 kit ready for a new home, out of curiosity how many plants do you think that might hold for you?
i have 8 in my 1.2 but think that size would hold 5 max.

I'm going to grow 4 at a time, all depends on final pot size/strain ofcourse but yeah I'd go with 5-6.

spot on, just ensure you have any convertors you may need for your hood.
the rhino cf's are a popular brand and should server you well.
