Hydroponics vs Aeroponics

Ok, forgive me for bringing up this debate that I'm sure is wwwaaayyy overdone and everything, but; I want to know.

I'm doing my first grow in soil right now and its more of an experimental grow just to see what its all about....and I must say, melikes!

I am going to build a 4-6 plant unit and make a sweet setup for my next grow...I'm going to build it myself, and considering any unit I am going to build will not differ in price very much, so price isn't an issue for me.

My question is, do I go hydro? If so, what type of system? I know drip's are popular, and I've heard aero is more effecient. I'm wondering, is there a superior unit? Or is it all basically personal preference?

OPEN the discussion! Bring in the references! I wanna hear what you girls and guys have to say!
Sorry for any redundancy....

I've done soil and grew some really great plants.

I've done DWC and grew some really great plants faster than when in soil.

I'm now doing Aero and will never go back to the other two. I'm getting a the same yield with less than half the plants. Instead of growing 14 plants, I now grow six.

I have been using DWC tubs for this grow but am planning a DIY aero setup. So far the best setup I have come across is the white pvc fence posts from HD drilled every so often for net pots. Then a 1inch pvc pipe is drilled with a very small hole that creates a mist which will be fitted inside the fence post so it sprays towards the net pots. The fence posts are slanted to drain back into a res which has a pump to feed the 1inch pvc pipe. You can scale this system up and down as you see fit.

yeah thats really good Mighty. I'm very interested in the pro's and con's of different setups as I want something I will have the most effecient growing and something I can have fun with...I like a lot of contingencies, like a very specific ppm and ph, good nute coverage, the works. I'm building the unit in the next month or so, and will put whatever needed work into the best system. Whether it be a fogger (I dont know anything about this), aero, hydro, soil, etc...
Although I'm having a hard time finding the right information from reputable sources. Although so far aero is winning.
I'm also interested in good plant biology and botany, and good books/sources of information on that. Any help is much appreciated!

Mr I Can Do That For Half
Im doing aero. When the picture gallery gets back up look at my home made setup. It uses the fence posts and mister and is a 28 site version but can be a 32 site but I eliminated a few for more room.cost about $180 for all the building materials including the pumps.Took about 2 days to finish including dry time for sealer.Figures a yeild at 1 lb to 5 lbs per harvest

i cant believe people stiil use soil!!!. i made my own aero set up with a few items from a hydro shop, but my stuff mostly came from wall mart. i started from seed january 20.. Its now march 15 and im 3 weeks away from harvest. check out my pics and youll see the progress, its as if my set up was on steroids cuz the plants developed so quickly... I have 5 clones ready for the set up as soon as i harvest so theres hardly any time wasted... Long story short --- AEROPONICS ALL THE WAY
