so out of curiosity people that use their money wisely don't buy iphones?
It's the electronic version of a Tommy Hilfiger Tshirt (back in the day), or a Starbucks coffee. You are paying a status symbol premium.

I'm assuming my wife's 130 dollar LG phone does most everything that an I-phone does. Even if she bought one a year, (which she doesn't) it would be about 0.21% of her income. So if someone made half what she does and spends 999 bucks for a phone, that would be 3.3% of their income. Not very wise, imo.

i'm ashamed that the left raised the income limits (in a most sneaky fashion) for the $1400 Stimulus checks..two on the left who shall remain unnamed lied on the Senate floor (i watched live) when the right kept raising the question about why the income limits are so high..i listened to them; to the right.

make no mistake; the income limits were raised..math doesn't lie..but those Senators did and i'm sptiting mad.

now it's supposed to go back where it belongs $75K with phase out at $80k.

A couple earning $200k is not in need of the Stimulus. if you wish to cite child care, that excuse works to age 5..you don't even go to work anymore- you're sitting on Zoom and saving commute costs.

I hate Republicans, and I hate that I feel that way. A conundrum.

A goodly amount of my neighbors are not just GOP, but Trumpkins. RIU is the only place I can truthfully talk politics without real world repercussions. Like if I were to tell the guy from the county who comes around and sprays for skeeters what I really thought of his views, I would be over run with skeeters.

if you are poor not everything is priced the same..those awesome car deals on teevee are for 'well qualified buyers only'..only a small percentage of americans are considered to be in that category.

no one is given the chance to save..just your basic rent food clothing? work rinse repeat. the CBO has it at $30K to survive in america.

$15/hourly gives us $31,200..we are so behind the eight-ball that i think it preposterous to suggest an equation that has human interaction as proof positive unlike the math that tell us there are 11 dimensions.

totally not the same.

Starbucks like McD a symbol of america a venti of whatever is $5.20, whether it's West Virginia or Cali. but the farmers cry poor mouth while receiving government subsidies which makes them welfare queens!
Some jobs are not worth $15 an hour. Fast food jobs are not a career and do not warrant anything more than what people are getting paid now. They might not be living wages but it's work that can be done by high school students or increasingly automation. What's going to happen to these people when it's cheaper to invest in robotics than it is to pay $15 and hour? Where are these people that have no skills and refuse to gain any going to work then?

How about all the small businesses that are just barely making it? $15 an hour will put them out of business. If people want higher paying jobs then they need to gain the skills required to get them. Just raising the minimum wage to $15 and hour across the board is ridiculous. A greeter standing at the entrance to a Walmart saying hello is not worthy of $15 an hour.

I completely agree with you that the left is demanding too much when now is the time for us to come together. So, let's just stop letting the virus dominate us, get on with our lives, work for whatever wages they offer and stop demanding that the rich give us free stuff.

Here is the flaw
I can claim to be a J O B creator
by paying forty employees minimum wage which is below the current poverty level

You make a lot of assumptions.
I entered the full time job market in 1972. I took a job at the minimum wage of $2.20/hr. I could not live on that alone, so I stayed home. According to Dollar Times, the inflation of that wage is now $13.94. That doesn't consider the rise in the cost of living, only inflation. It's like pulling teeth to get a $15/hr. wage, when it should be about $19/hr., or more, considering the higher cost of living now.

says who?

You?
Yes says me. I worked fast food jobs when I was in High School. It's not a $15 an hour job. If people want to make more than some teeneager then they need to get some job skills. Even back then I was able to move up into management and was an Assistant Manager at a Burger King when I was 18. All the lazy employees with no motivation were jealous. Making comments like X has been here longer and should have gotten the promotion. Well X was a lazy ass with no desire to taker on any additional responsibility so X continued to work the fry station while I sat in the back office counting the tills and interviewing prospective new employee's.

There is a culture of lazy in America. People that lack the desire to improve themselves and their financial conditions should not just be given a big payday for doing the bare minimum and taking the easiest jobs with no responsibility. I've worked my ass off all my life. I worked for minimum wage at low skill jobs. I wanted morte so I did something about it and improved my job skills. If others don't have the motivation to get shit done and improve their lives that's their problem. But forcing employers to pay a minimum wage of $15 an hour for jobs that require no skill and a blind monkey could do is just ridiculous.

You make a lot of assumptions.
No assumptions. Just a lifetime of observations. $15 an hour minimum wage is just plain stupid and would do more harm to the economy than good. That added cost would be passed onto the consumer or many businesses would close their doors. Some businesses are operating on extremely low profits. Raising the minimum wage would wipe them out. FACTS not assumptions.

I don't believe in trickle down. But I also don't think that a $15 an hour minimum wage is appropriate. Industries that require skilled labor already pay more than that. Those that don't require skilled labor like fast food, landscaping, and others should not be forced to raise their base pay to $15 an hour.

someone who has a full time job and works 40 hours weekly should be entitled to:

1.
2.
3.

kids don't think of it in that way and that's who Adidas marketed it to..look at phone company ads do you see your wife in any of those?

they're taught from a very young age and we did it to them.

i would honestly like to see some regulations on FB, Twitter.

we could say the same about all three in the past 5 years..'but for Trump'..'but for FB'..'but for Twitter'.

they ruined us and we'll never be the same just like 9/11..Build Back Better is all we can do as we emerge, and never let them do it to us again.

we were INSANE to allow something such as Twitter and FB Carte Blanche in our country!

next up..the fvcker from Amazon!

Do you think that a teeneager working part time at McDonalds taking orders at the drive-thru should be getting paid $15 an hour?

I worked for minimum wage and when that wasn't enough I took another job. Sometimes I had three jobs. I did what it took. Too many people today are just plain lazy. They work some simple job that requires no skills, they go home early if they can soon they can watch some stupid reality crap like Honey Boo Boo. There is plenty of opportunity in America. There are plenty of jobs. If someone is too lazy to work harder or can't get a better job because they can't stop smoking weed long enough to pass a drug test then that's their problem.

All through the pandemic Amazon has been hiring in Portland. Those jobs already start out at $15 an hour and they can't fill them. There are people complaining about being months behind in their rent even though with the combined state and federal unemployment they were receiving they actually had more money than when they were working. As soon as they found out there was a moratorium on evictions they stopped paying rent and started blowing their money on junk. Some people could be paid three times what they already make and they would still be poor because they blow their money as soon as they get it on all kinds of frivolous items.

The minimum wage should not be based on the cost of living. There are jobs that should not be considered living wage jobs.
