Ok guys i know im a retard yes but i got some shortrider seeds from nirvana and i am trying to germinate them. I had no issues before what i usually do is

-soak in moist paper towel put on dish and cover with siran wrap for 48 hours.

and ill see taproot. This time i didnt soak them what i decided to do as a soil grower is put them directly in the soil. Now the problem i think i have is it is to cold right now its about 60 degrees in my room. (bedroom) so what i did is i put the seeds into the growroom which is 78 degrees after 6 days none have popped or shown any signs of life. Should i take these suckers out of the soil and put them in direct warm water and let them sink method? I know i have fucked with them waayyyyyy to much and ill take the loss. I have some pineapple express, super lemon haze, great white shark, and twiglight coming in from attitude anyways. But could i please have some tips on germination next time and what i can do to try and save these suckers?

Well, in my experience it can take up to 2 weeks for a seed to actually germinate and then it still takes a couple days for the seed to sprout to the surface. I'd suggest you just be patient.

If I were you, I'd take them out and put them in paper towels, like you used to. Might as well go with what you know will work, right? Soil wortks good too, but there's room for mistakes. I like using paper towels myself, even though I know soil will work. Why mess with near 100% success? That's my logic, anyway. :)

I will share my method with you for germination.

It is pretty fool proof.

Some of these steps some people feel are unecassary but i use them and they work.

Step1
pH some plain water down to 6

Step2
Soak the seed for 6hours in a dark place at average room temp

Step3
Prepare your medium. My chosen medium is coco.

Step4
Plant your seed after soaking 1/16inch down into the medium gently cover with some medium and water it in using the pH6 soaking water.

Step5
Place a small humidity dome on top ( i use bottoms of clear plastic bottles)

Step6
Place under a small CFL i use a 24w 6400k T5 on an 18/6 schedule

Step7
WAIT

Usually they pop up above ground within 3days.

simple easy and no fiddling with taproots.

But as My good pal Jawbrodt has mentioned if you already have a method that has been working prior to this dont change.

Yeh I shouldn't have fucked around with what I knew work. I'm gonna soak them in water and wait for the taproot to emerge and then just put them in soil maybe with some seed starting nutrients. Thanks for Ur input guys

Im dealing with the same issue cannabi, bought some feminized AK-48 and master kush from nirvana soaked them for 12 hours taps were showing already on most of them placed them in a mix of fox farm ocean forest and light warrior and have seen no sign of life for four days, even have a heating pad under them. Any Ideas Im assuming good seeds in good medium with correct moisture, warmth and humidity should eventually sprout right? Anyone have experience with this?

Is the pad you are using thermostatically controllable?

ie can you adjust the temperature?

If not you may want to run it on for 15mins off for 15mins as the temps can quickly exceed 30C which will probably cook your seeds.

I personally dont use a heat mat.

how do you know if your seeds are cooked, like should i take them out and look at them. the pad was pretty warm so good chance even though the soil stayed moist at all times they just got too arm huh? Maybe time to start some more seeds,no heat pad, dont know why i tried it always worked fine without it just looking for quicker results i guess

ya i alway just soaked for 24 then threw then in soil no heating pad, i pulled some of the seeds out and some looked black and the ones with roots showing were tiny and yellow burnt looking. FUUUCK why do i go away from tradition. looks like its time to to germinate some more, correctly this time hopefully.

I start mine in coco. Basically the same idea as the paper towel method. Moist, inert, except the coco doesn't require any transplant and has given me a 100% germination rate with seeds I thought were bunk. You don't need much coco, and it'll work well.

I definetly think that they got too hot cuz when i took them from the soil they were black and had little or no tap root growth. So i pitched them and started some more 2-ak-48 and 2- master kush nirvana fems soaked them for 24 and placed in paper towel, all but one sprouted and is in soil but still none look as strong as the bagseed i germed before them which is bummin me out.
Thanks for the heads up on the uncontrolled heating mat jondamon im sure thats what got me.

And hey cannabi how are your seeds coming?

hey cdubya thanks for asking. I just recieved some twlight, pineapple express, and sharks breath in the mail from the attitude great seed company by the way fast and discrete. What i did was i made sure to put them in damp paper towels and cover them with siran wrap. This method was great within 36 hours i got all taproots and just planted them in some soil. I will update with a journal soon. This should be a great grow.
