Given his situation... probably the only state that would be in his best intrest to do that, would be Texas.

If he blew him away with either a concealed carry or an unlicensed concealed carry, either way it would very likely end up in a manslaughter or possible murder charge because he had drugs and a scale on him. Even though he may of been rightfully defending himself, courts don't operate the way you think they should once drugs and/or possible intent to distrbute charges are stacked ontop of a self-defense situation.

You have to consider the fact that cops DONT usually search you when you call. Chances of them searching his briefcase after he was robbed... Slim to none?

Live and learn, I got carjacked by a crackhead back in the day who kept me in the car at gunpoint, drove around scoring coke and meth then smashed my car into the back of a truck and ran off leaving me there in traffic. And the cops were total fucking dicks and acted like I made the whole thing up!

My mistake was giving a stranger a ride, yours was rolling down your window and not having your doors locked. You should have reported it and just changed the contents of briefcase from 'illegal shit' to 'laptop' lol! Even if they recovered it for some odd reason, anything illegal in there was obviously the criminals, not the guy who just got robbed at knife-point right? Innocent people act innocent.

never carry scales on your person. period. If you're purchasing, trust your seller, or if you don't, have them weigh it there. If you're selling, break it up before you go out, and only bring one bag with you at a time, if possible.

me...after laughing my ass off for a minute..i would have slammed the car door into him..then pulled him through the window as i choked him out...took his knife...and pants...and went in to watch the movie..granted im built like the big show and pray for someone to start shit with me..but no one ever does.and i would never be caught at a harry potter movie anyways
