I need help with ducting connection

Hey everyone,

I got a carbon filter with an 8" outlet and an aircooled rflector that is 8" as well. I got some aluminum ducting and some clamps. The problem is that the ducting doesn't fit around the carbon filter. The ends just meet up and don't slide in like on the reflector. Do I need some kind of coupling? It doesn't seem to fit around the reducer I got for the fan either. I went to home depot and they didn't have shit. Or I didn't know what to look for. I know I should be asking a home depot guy but they always ask "what's it for?" I just want to tell them some time for giggles.

Thanks for the help. Pics are coming of the set up.

You should be able to find the part you need at home depot. I ran into the same problem when setting up my ducting. The part was a 6", as it was to fit a Hydrofarm Cooltube, but I saw that they had 4" and 8" as well at Lowe's. The part was just called a '6" connector", and I found it where they have all the other ducting stuff.

is it a Can Filter you have?
if so, did you get the flange for it?
im not sure if they come with it, as ive only seen them in the store(built my own)
it the filter flat on one end, with a hole in it?
are you using rigid ducting, or flexable?
maybe you just need to crimp the ducting?

pics would be very helpful to assess your problem mate

I dont seem to understand your problem. If your using Flex ducting, cant you just slide it over the flange and tape it?

Dont use duct tape, it will come apart with time. Use tuck tape, the red stuff. It holds much better.

It also looks to me like u have almost the same setup i have, the rubbermaids, i mean.
How big are you going to grow your plants? I have 4 plants per tub, all plants were topped, and are now about 3' tall. They are way too crowded for my liking.

In aero setups like those if you use clones and hid lighting only veg about 10-14 days as the plants will be 12-124 inches at that time. This is the design I posted and sell and use the growth is crazy fast much faster then soil, bubble or dwc

If the light is 600 watt or smaller it wont matter as long as the refelector is closed. Now on the filter might make some difference but if thats an issue the 8 inch flex ducting should fit right on the filter flange

They have them at home depot - called "starting somthing", but they are not round - you have to bend them and click them together - one side of the coupling is solid, and the other has "fingers". Can't miss them in the ducting section. I have the same filter.

I just got some insulated ducting from homdepot that is way easier to slide over the openings. I hope this insulated duct is okay clamped right on the reflector.
