I need someone with outdoor winter crop experience to give some honest answers

My outside setup
  • 8 x 25 x 11
  • two dehumidifers on each side of tent
  • 6 plants vegged indoors for 24 hours a day for 60 days
  • I live in central California close to the coast...below San Francisco where we get a little bit of fog
  • Flower time February 17 to April 1.
  • On febuary 15 we get 11 hours of sunlight and we continue to get more everyday in California
  • tempatures never dip below 45 average is around 57 but I figure since I have a greenhouse I should be chill
  • i plan on using a black tarp to cover up my greenhouse daily when we get into the longer days , so I can stay in 12 12 flower..

Now has anyone did a outdoor winter crop and get results that are similar to a normal fall crop?
using a greenhouses with tarp in California?
what problems would I run into?
the light schedule schedule is the same aim feb - April 1 as August to November 5th right????
if I used a black tarp to cover my greenhouses to keep in flower....I won't get Larfy buds right?

Thanks a bunch I just want to do a winter crop with great results like a fall crop

imo it's going to cost too much to be worth it...
it's best to wait till spring...
plant will grow slow without heat...sun in winter is weak...you wont get dense buds..might be all larfy... might not...
need supplemental lighting for stormy days..
imo winter is time to go indoors..

I think the sun is too far away and your buds may not be tight in the end. Weak sun sparse buds.

I did it in socal every year with great results plus no greenhouse. When I moved up north it just didn't work worth the time(and I used a greenhouse). The temps weren't the worst problem, the light was. I had supplemental lighting in the am and pm and did decent for the circumstances. I'd just rather do a good indoor run than battle the winter.

A friend of mine did a winter crop last year in sf bay area.in greenhouse he kept temps and humidity right but didn't use any tarp to control lighting.in the end the buds were to loose so he ran it all for hash and oil.and he says he won't be doing it this year.but here's hoping u get better rsults good sir

It can be done, I've done it in years past.
Strain is very important, a indica 7-8 week flowering strains work best.
I have a 1000 watt light on a mover in the greenhouse to give the plants a full 12/12 schedule the first month or so, no light needed after that.
Start March 1st, and harvest on May 1st.
No need to cover with a black tarp, they'll finish up just fine.
Here's some photos of a run 2 years ago.
Good luck...

No, you don't get the results like a fall crop.

You can do it if you veg indoors up to about 2 to 3 feet tall and bring them out to flower in your greenhouse but you need three runs to get as much as one fall harvest.
Need to hit Oct/Nov Dec/Jan Feb/Mar as long as you finish by April you will get it done. I have run with supplemental lighting through nov dec jan and without. I used a 600 on a rail. didn't notice any difference really. Go with Indica and you will get tighter buds.

Here is a link, put in your latitude, probably 37.5 and see how much daylight you get.
