i’ll not buy another led until..

i’d be willing to pay 10-20% extra to cover the build and shipping costs of bigger heatsinks

My fce 8000 runs super cool. I just put 2 fans overtop of it to dissipate the heat emitted off the bars. Simple enough...
again a no brainer but i dont want to put fans on top of my fixtures to cool them. that doesnt mean they run cool, it means you’re actively cooling them lol

so no moving parts deal shits the bed too because no moving parts in the unit but you gotta have moving parts to cool them properly :)

I have the luxury of being able to run more boards at lower power for super even coverage and cooler temps (hopefully resulting in longer diode life), but not everybody has the money to do so. i do think the cooling solutions from manufacturers of plug and play fixtures should be improved if they are going to allow the diodes to be run as hard as they are in most fixtures at %100 power.
exactly, thats what i’m doing in my 4x4 too. bought 4 fixtures to run all at 60%. could have bought a single unit but had to run it at 100% which i know was gonna run too hot for my taste. some of us can afford it definitely and diy reigns supreme and all that shit but really my frustration is not about these facts. its about the fact that thermal management comes second or third or fourth for the companies out there when they’re selling a light. yeah 2.7 umol/j, but for how long?

It does run cool. I can barely get my tent over 80°. The fans are to take away any heat from building on the bars. Same idea as having the company put fans in it.
20% of the fce8000 is over 200 bucks... So no that's not worth it when I run 2 20 dollar fans over top that circulate the air in the room anyways.

Sanlight evo-series is running pretty cool. No issues to touch on any part.
got any readings with an ir camera or something? how much do they cost and oh man you really gotta buy the plug seperately :)

yeah first of all your fans can fail while a good design rarely does, secondly turn the fans off and touch them please. thermal management is the thing you’re doing with the fans already. it’s dissipating heat and the fixture should be able to do that by design or its not a good design.

when you think about that 200 extra bucks could possibly give you a double lifespan on your expensive fixture you really feel thats too much to pay?

Lol. Wtf? You run fans to circulate the air anyways. Why pay an extra 200 bucks for cheap computer fans on top of the fixture. Lol.
Where do you think the heat goes in a heatsink? Think it just disappears? You need to move the air around to take the heat away. Yes a heatsink is designed to take heat away passively from the main board it goes into the fins where there's alot more surface area and the metal is fast cooling. If you have air moving around those fins the heat is taken away faster therefore keeping the board cooler.

who said 200 bucks for pc fans? wtf are you talking about :)

first of all do you think all heatsinks are equal? secondly you may not want to have fans on top of your lights where the fins are located which is just gonna push hot air onto your canopy and who the fuck said the heat dissappears? you’re just talking nonsense to cover for your strange “yes it does run cool when i actively cool it” statement.

who the fuck argued about that? did you once read in this thread where i said no you cant actively cool it yourself with fans and shit? you dont wanna pay 200 or whatever for doubling the lifespan for your fixture, fine. enjoy your cool to the touch boards :)

meanwhile i think thermal management should be a priority for any light manufacturer and i guess we gotta have to agree to disagree on that one lol

the thing is the votes are like 1 to 3 and every mf who voted no would have bought a PRO version of the same light for 10-20% more money even with just the words “better thermal management for longer lifespan”

some people are really funny lol

Seems like 75% agree with me. When running Leds you want to push heat onto the canopy. Seems like you maybe confused
You're taking what I said then making it what you want it to be. I said my light runs cool on the reg. I run cmhs as well. Those are hot. LEDs are cool compared to hid. I put fans on it to disperse the heat better off the heatsink and away from the light.
It's cool tho. I can sell you some computer fans for half price. 100 bucks each

yeah cause the majority is always right about everything :)

actually i think you have brain damage or something. who said pc fans for 200 bucks? you are like a broken record with your own stupidity lol

you’re just now worth it my friend. now go troll under some other bridge grown ups are talking about some serious stuff here.

Me have Dain bramage?

Have to throw shade cause I, and the majority disagree with you? Little kids do that. Lol
Trolling now is disagreeing with someone civilly? Hm. I see..... Let's recall for a moment. You posted.. I disagree civilly, didn't knock your idea didn't call you dumb, didn't say your ears are big or your cock is small. That was all you when you got butthurt that someone has a diff opinion than yours and is willing to voice it. You didn't have to get all emotional and personal. It shows you're emotionally weak and can't handle criticism, as well as a someone who can't control their emotions and words. Like a kid....
You're the one who said 10-20% extra for fans to cool your light. Shall I screenshot your poll title for you...? So now you're arguing your own stats? Dude you don't make any sense. Maybe you should take a break from smoking weed for a little while, go back to the drawing board and invent something that hasn't already been accomplished with a 20$ fan
Offer still stands. I'll even knock another 10bucks off. 90 per fan just for you
Sorry your idea sucks? I duno what you're looking for here, but I won't back down when being persuaded.
I'll leave you to your 'adult conversation' of nonsense. Lmfao
