Inheritance: a dilemma

Some of you may know that I went to NC early November 09 and returned mid December 09. The reason I went is because my uncle was actively dieing and on Hospice. My trip there was to help my uncle and his wife deal with his immenant death. Well, he passed away high as a kite and comfortable on Nov. 6. Just before his death he gave all his drugs to me and said to have fun with them. He gave me the rest of his pot (no dilemma here) and all of his pain meds, given after he died. So now I have oxycontin, liquid morphine oral suspension, morphine in tablet form, and darbinol.

This is my dilemma: I love pills but horribly afraid of hard core addictions, been there done crack. I have been clean off of hard stuff for 20 years now. But every day is tough because I really want to take/try these things just to be sedated. With these around I feel less and less satisfied with pot. It feels like I want to be higher than pot can get me and these things are calling my name, I'm struggling and have an addictive urge that is freaking me out. I haven't felt this lulled by drugs for 20 years, untill I brought these home with me. At 46 years old it seems like I should be pass negative urges and enjoying the grand kids. I have not taken any because they scare me but the fear is starting to go away and I can feel myself giving me permission, yikes. :wall:

Anyone have any good ideas or suggestions on how to get rid of this addictive cloud.

Those are the ones I have been most tempted to try. But I have known a couple of people who have been hooked real bad on them, have heard they are like herion. I have had the morphine drip before after a major surgery, it's a good high.

Find someone you know who can get rid of them for you, or flush em.... Theres nothing good that can come from that EXCEPT addiction. No one wants that :[

Get rid of them if you fear addiction.

My advice:

Grab some psychedelics, get in your head.. ask yourself why you have these urges that make you feel like you need other substances.

You can learn a lot about yourself :-)

p.s The guy who said keep the oxy's, that is horrible advice.. oxycontin is just subpar the strength of heroin, and the addiction/tolerance is similar to that of heroin. If you are going to keep one of those, I am guessing you ment dronabinol (marinol), keep that one.

at 46 you can't start your live over... throw away the drugs, store the morphine for an emergency... like haiti style...

A long time ago a friend gave me a handful of darvocets and I just saved them until I would get a headache and then I would take 1. I don't know how well that will work with how potent what you have is but I would say just keep it all stashed until something that might require it could happen.

The best "way" to beat an addiction in my mind, is 2-fold. First, have the mental power to known boundaries (you have that). Second, keep the substance in question gone...like not in the house.

If I were you, I'd either make some extra money or make some friends very happy.

you already know that you have an addictive personality, much like mysef.. i definitely hear the pain in post.. you already know what you should do with these pills.. i like what someone else has already said.. at 46, trying to restart a life free from drugs is not easy, especially since you don't know how long your run maybe..
i would either flush all of it, or give them to a good friend and make there day/week/month... i wouldn't sell them, as it seemed like your uncle just wanted to make someone happy with them and thought that he was doing that for you.. just get rid of all of it, minus the weed.. i think once its out of your posession, the need for anything harder than mj will be gone.. i think you only feel that way now as you know that you have something that can take you much higher than mj..
think about how your life was when you used to smoke rock.. although opiates are not coke, they are even more addictive physically.. just do yourself a really big favor and get rid of it...

Throwing them out has been running through my head, no way to get addicted if they are not around.

The oxy's are the ones that have been most tempting, I have seen some high people on this shit. I have alot of the 10 mg tabs and thinking like an addict I tell myself just one won't hurt but I never only smoked one rock.....

your too smart to start taking prescription pain meds for "release".

Please get rid of them, sell them, buy lots of POT.

You dont want to start taking them, deep down, or you would not have posted here asking if you should.

Turn away now while you still can.

One will lead to another...

EXACTLY! That is the very reason addiction scares me so bad. Not that my life is all that but it would be nearly impossible for me to regain trust from my friends and family after I had the crack days so many years ago.

I've heard they are worth alot of money, that is the main reservation I have about tossing them. They aren't worth anything if I swallow them.

Regret is key in this whole picture. I can not stand to feel guilt or regret over choices in my life. I have already lived that picture, so now I try to make decisions based on how I will feel after. If the choices could induce guilt or regret onto others and me, I choose something else.

How much drugs do you get from an inheritance? Is it really that much that you would become addicted to the pills? Do you have means to get more...cuz it's hard to be addicted to something you can't get. i think selling them is probably a worse idea than keeping them. I used to smoke crack and was addicted to cocaine and quitting was very easy for me......I simply didn't like it when I was high I only wanted it when I was sober. I couldn't justify my actions, I was doing something I didn't want to do for no reason, so I just bought a bag of good weed and made myself smoke it-because I love MJ and I wasn't even smokin it anymore cuz I was too busy blowing all my money, literally.

I know dem crack days... been there many years ago...
I also quit cold turkey, but it wasn;t easy and the "repair" took over a decade... which I can never get back.

Someone did mention psycedelics to you, you are obviously driven by something that makes you want to escape... they may help you zone in what it is, and sometimes find a way out... I must say, especialy since I found the plant teachers, it has had a significantly positive effect on my existance.
