Greetings RUI Community,

This will be my journal documenting my first grow cycle. All comments are encouraged and welcomed and I am making this journal to hopefully be a forum for feedback and Q and A for all the issues I am sure to encounter in the upcomming weeks.

I am growing in a small box approx 2.5ft tall by 2 ft deep by 1.5 ft wide. I have power stripped up a total of about 200w of 26 ,23, and 42w CFLs. Have two 120 mm computer fans exhausting rated at 86cfm!!! (I highly doubt this but it was what was on their label). Passive Intake holes slightly larger than exhaust area. Temps peaking around 88-90 in the hour before lights off.

As of now, the two Indica dominant plants are around 5 1/2 weeks from seed. They were just the strongest of a lot of bagseeds I germinated around middle of December. Germed in miracle grow til 4 weeks, up-potted into 6x6x8 pots with 3 part FoxFarm Ocean Forest, 1 part Perlite. I have also one clone from a Sativa dominant strain that is female but isntdoin too well..

Anways, I figure thats enough to give everyone an idea where I stand.. I am about 5 1/2 weeks as of today, today is the first day of 12-12. They just came outta 36hrs of darkness, and were previously under 18-6 from weeks 3-51/2, 24-0 when they were seedlings.

BTW, I got all those nutes for $10 from GH shipped! Does anyone has good advice/ experience using the GH Floranova line? and or the Floralicous additive? My plants have just been getting pHed 6.5 ish tap water left out 24+ hours up to this point. I am not going to touch the nutes for another 2-3 weeks atleast since I believe the FoxFarm soil still has plenty of nutes left for the plant..

Comments and advice appreciated!

have you used any pruning techniques? topping, lst, fim, etc? looks very bushy!

Yea, forgot to mention, both plants were topped following Uncle Ben's topping technique to get 4 main colas. You can find that thread in the advanced cutivation techniques section. Also, the taller of the two plants has been LST'ed slightly if you want call it that. But basically, I just tied two of the opposing branches down to expose the inner canopy. Both plants have very tight internode spacing and the other plant seems to be growing out horizontally rather than vertically. And with a limited height vertically in the cab, I dont mind it.

Depending on if either of the plants are female, I am interested in taking cuttings from them. Can anyone tell me by what week this needs to be done by? I was going to do it really right after I can determine the sex. Which brings me to another question, can anyone tell if those pointy little sprouts out the sides of the stem are indicative of a female plant or are they found on both male and female? I ask because the feminised clone I have has the same sprouts but out of those came tiny hairs / pistals. So, are they precursors to pistals? Thanks!

Bump... how do they look for the setup I've got? I really hope both turn out to be female. We shall see in the next week or so. Would starting on the Floranova bloom formula be alright considering the FF oceanforest soil their in is only about a week old?

Update: Day 5 flowering

Everything is going great. Solid growth each day, and best thing is... second plant is confirmed female and first plant appears female but I'm not 100%! I couldn't be happier that I know for sure I have at least two girls countin the clone.

Comments, questions appreciated!

[Update: Day 8 flowering

first few pics are of the cab. As you can see its pretty small, lined with emergency blanket from walmart, 120mm pc fans up top for exhaust, etc..

The bad news is, I am thinking the bigger of the two plants is a male since I can clearly see what appear to be balls forming at the top nodes. I am gonna give it a few more days to see if any pistals pop out of these sites but I don't have high hopes...

The confirmed female is doin well. It had alot of wierd undergrowth that was blocking baby bud shoots from developing so I gave it a slight trim down low to free up some space for light penetration..I also LST'd its four main colas. You can see that in the last pic.. The plant is really squat, and basically growin horizontal.. with the predicted male comin, it may soon get twice as much space to grow out intehcab..

The og kush x cheese clone i got is doin fine, little pistals growin nicely.. I wonder if it is really what I was told it is.. anyways..

I am going to start with the floranova bloom at 1/4 strength next week. Still just straight tap left out 24hrs and pH'd to 5.5-6.5 beforehand.

Comments, questions, discussion appreciated.

Nice job on the cab man I love shit like that! Looks like we have all the same stuff, looking good man!

Bigger plant was what I feared... it clearly displayed its sex and I'm down to the one and the small clone. I gave the ladies their first taste of Floranova Bloom at 1/4 strength... about 1.2ml in a gallon.. we shall see how they respond. Man I wanna get HID lights but don't have a secure location...

I have a 400 watt hid I don't use anymore. What state are you in?

Ahh, I really appreciate that man, it goes to show the awesomeness of this community... I am on the East coast I just don't have a viable location to use a powerful HID at the moment. Pic update coming today.. I gave em their first taste of the Floranova bloom nutes yesterday and they blew up over night! The stuff accelerated their growth alot!

Update: Day 10 flowering

I fed both ladies their first taste of floranova bloom yesterday and they shot up an inch overnight. They seemed to have loved it. More pistal development coming along nicely. I can't get over how many bud shoots the big plant has.. I tried to capture this in the last of the pics.

Comments, discussion, questions always welcome

Update: Day 13 flower

Ladies are growin nicely. Have been reading about Co2 and molasess and think I am gonna add a DIY 2 liter CO2 bottle and start supplementing my plain waterings with unsulphered molasess. Niether one can really hurt...

The topped indica has started developing defined tops which will hopefully turn into solid buds..I trimmed some leaves from the undergrowth that were deformed and not getting light in hopes of directing more of the plants energy to producing flowers.

The clone, which I learned is Master Kush x Blu cheese from the breeder, is developing two side colas which I am really happy about.. Overall, I think things are working out good.

feedback would be awesome thanks

It looks to me like you are doing everything right keep it up! Those are going to be some sweet nugs!

Update: Day 15 flowering

Buds are forming nicely with plenty of pistal development and growth. Did a little more LST to open up the middle of the plant. Upped their nutes today and gave em Floranova bloom at half strength.

The clone is gettin nice and bushy as well... Im really pleased with things as they are now.

Check the pics.

Comments advice discussion questions appreciated!!!!

Plants look healthy! Bravo so far, Bravo.

How did you go about connecting the computer fans to the desk? I've heard several different methods but I'm curious on what you did to connect them, please let me know!

Keep up the good work.

Confidential Herb, I just have the PC fans zip-tied to the inside of the grow box in place of where you would put screws and bolts. Thanks for checkin in!
