hmmm, i'd like to know the answer to this myself! lol, well how many plants do you plan on having? i'd say it sounds like plenty of light to me, but what do i know! i don't even have an hps lol.

the cfl's alone are probably enough for vegging. did you flower last time with just cfl's? how did they turn out?? yield?

hopefully 2 ladies....... even just a mother plant to put on the side for clones... but 2......
yea i flowerd with CFL's last op.... it was a low ryder plant. only about 18 inch's tall. nice lil yeild tho. about a quater ounce also the 4 20-23 W CFL's are 2 red 2 blue. the 42W is red also...... if u want an upgrade to HPs homedepot has some cheap ones. i couldnt belive it kus the hydroponics store is right next to it.... 50$

they also got 1000W metal haloides thee too. only 80 bux

thanks!! they're a little over a foot i guess... we're hoping they're not going to get too big since we're working with a pretty small space. anything over 2 feet will probably be too tall... so i hope everything works out.

it's our second try now, the first try was a disaster lol. we ended up with one male and one plant that just stopped growing all together. we have t5 lights, and they work pretty good. i don't mind the cfl's at all!

you should make a journal and keep us updated on your progress!

if you are not planning on buying a legit hps system at all, then sure, the 70w is better than absolutely NOTHING but cfls. but if you are looking for a substitute for an actual grow light setup, then no, it's not worth it. i don't know if that made any sense, but I hope it did. good luck.

butthead. i was tryin to keep um small to... just keep the lights as close as possible. kus they dont get that hot. burning them a lil bit is okay. but only fan leaves... how many watts so u have all togther?

70 watt will probably be about 4 inches off the plant use your own judgement from there. I know a guy who is using one right now with a nice hood he made. He has 2 plants as well, and they are budding very nicely.

uhh let's see the t5 is 216w and then we have another 2 26w cfl's, so 268w total. we keep them about 2 to 3 inches away from the plants, and they're doing pretty good.

the t5's barely get hot at all
