I think at that point, I would supercrop the plant instead of topping. Are you limited in height?

From my own personal experience, I would NOT top at this stage simply because it'll only reduce the yield. Proper topping is done above the second true node. Any other method, LST, Super Cropping, or tying the top down would be better than topping at this stage of the plant's life. If it were outdoors and still going to veg for 4-6 weeks, i'd say go for it. But since the plant will be going 12/12 in one week, don't top it, but that is just me and my experiences.

It is ok to top now. You might want to wait two weeks after topping to go 12/12.

You may want to consider LST (if space allows), so just try to bend her a bit after you water (the stem bends easier once watered). I personally have topped a plant even during the 2nd week of flowering and turned out quite nicely in the end, although it was an emergency and I would not do it under normal circumstances. However if you are left no other choice, then topping can prove to be better than the plant outgrowing the light.

I'm sticking with Supercropping. While we LST all of our plants, they are topped first. This gives us plenty of branches to tie down and out. Snapping the main branch (supper cropping) will concentrate growth outward, slow vertical growth, barely stunt the plant. If this is what you're looking for, go for it. Super Cropping is easy if done right. Be sure to roll the branch between your fingers to feel for the right spot to pinch a little harder. It will be the smaller axis of the plant stock. I like to pinch up and down about 1/2" from the break point. This softens the stock for the bend down. Be sure to have a stake and some wore handy. You'll want to stake the branch after you break it. Watch some super cropping vids before trying it. If anything, they will show you how easy it is.
