Is this a hermie?

Hi everyone,

Found a seed in a bag and planted it. My first time grow so for the first few months i just had a 10w purple grow light and then i changed to a proper 150w. I learned a thing or two online and after about 4 months, here we are, 2nd week of flowering.
I see the bud sites forming from top to the bottom of the plant with clear white hairs (pics attached) and getting really excited but i also see these button like things under bud sites. Some are closed and some are open with white hairs coming out of them (also pics attached).

Is this a hermie? Or female pre-flowers look like this? When it was a seedling a sock dropped on her from a laundry basket and kinda topped her. I don't know if this is enough stress. I also under/over watered her while I was learning but that's all. I monitor humidity and heat and all are optimum for flowering.

Any help appreciated! Thanks

Do the best you can to remove the “balls”/male flowers as you find them, try not to let them open up, that’s when they drop pollen. You won’t get to them all, you’ll have some seeds, but it won’t ruin anything, you’ll just have to deal with seeds.

Thank you and will these seeds be feminized?

Hermies can grow funny and give strange results sometimes. Usually not worth it to finish it. I'd start a diff seed. Seeds from a true herm will make Hermies
Thank you guys so much for all the valuable information. I made an "operation" today to pluck out the pods. They were everywhere. Almost right under each bud and some even almost growing inside the flowers. When i was done there were hundreds of green seeds on the floor (or sacks). The plant looks stressed immadiately after, drooping. I watered and misted her, tucked her into her tent for bed as it was her time for darkness. I hope it's worth all the effort. I don't know what to expect next. I would love to hear your comments. Thanks again!

This is my only plant :( What should i do? :(

I recommend if you don't want this in the future always grow multiple seeds even in smaller pots and clone them before sending to flower, closely track each clone so you know what is what, don't grow autoflowers as they can't be cloned. You will have to weed out herms in early/mid flower your first time running a new seed. It's just part of the game. I don't run large pots with new genetics so I can just toss the plant in a black contractor bag if it goes herm or is undesirable vs wasting my only plant space on it.

No, that's not "nanners", that's a true hermie, and the seeds will most likely to produce more hermies. Seeds from late flower nanners are more likely to be female, but they still have weak genetics, basically the "Shallow end of the gene pool", not something you want to perpetuate.

Thank you so much for the explanation. What a bummer for my first grow :/ *sigh* I guess i will go as far as i can and see what will happen.

Just wanted to give you guys a little update. After some serious pod plucking and defoliating the bottom part, today she looks like this. I have noticed some of the flowers that were white turned brownish today. I have read online that this might be due to pollination (which i doubt because the pods i plucked were max a week old. Soft and empty inside) or due to directly touching them) . Will they recover? Should i be worried? Thanks in advance.

Browing pistils are often a sign of pollination, you said earlier that some of the pods had opened, so pollination could of occurred a while ago. Those buds may slow down some, but there's really nothing you can do about it that your haven't already done. Sit back and let them grow, the plant will be fine

Thank you for your fast reply! Will do :)

I would get the idea of "stress = hermie" outa your head. Honestly you'll feel much better.
And you won't be chasing your tail, trying to fix something which mightn't be there, every time you get an intersex plant.

Seems it's your only plant, so just pluck on, if you can be bothered.
I'd say it'll be very likely you'll get seed. You'll be able to tell soon.
Who knows, might get lucky.
YES! That is a full blown hermie. Unless you want seeds get rid of it, or at least get it a long ways away from other female plants, and downwind! More than likely it’s a genetic thing, not stress.

That really depends on what you call female...I'd suggest a dioecious plant lacks the ability to do either of those things, naturally, without human intervention.
Far as I can tell, all plants that hermie, lack the male markers when testing and indicate XX chromosome. Nanners, bananas or balls, it doesn't matter.
I really think dioecy is an important distinction to make, because of this.

Also, I think it's important to recognize the term "hermaphrodite" refers to a perfectly formed, or complete flower in botany and horticulture.
What is referred to as a "true hermie" in the mj community, is actually monoecious by description. (separate M+F flowers on the same plant)
I'm no botanist, when I say I'm having a difficult time visualizing what a perfectly-formed cannabis flower looks like?
Given the flowers we see, are essentially clusters of individual flowers themselves?

It's all monoecy at the end of the day, pretty sure.
In the sense they have both male and female reproductive organs, on the same plant, but not the same flower.
And, that not all monoecious plants are hermaphrodite.

I agree with you, keeping seeds from a hermie, will likely result in more hermie plants. Inevitable if selecting them.
Only disagree with you on the taxonomy.
Also, if we consider for a moment, that you can't distinguish a female cannabis plant from an intersex cannabis plant, by it's chromosome markers. Then it's a very slippery slope, suggesting, plants that grow bananas not balls, will result in female seed. How can we tell?
Or, that the plant showing intersex traits is "female". A dioecious female plant, that grows bananas late stage, categorically isn't dioecious at all.

I don't mean to rant, sorry, if it seems that way!
Every question is genuine, I'm not claiming to be any expert, either.
There's lots of misinformation about cannabis online, as you're more than likely aware. Takes a lot of time to sift through it. In my opinion, plant hermaphroditism is one area that's very difficult to find reliable information on. Lots of contradictions and confusing theories.

I think the plant looks ok, looks like it’s just flowering, it can happen where the flowers turn to hairs and turn brown, red, orange exc. instead of turning into bud but it will. Just don’t have any male plants around and it won’t hermie. A male plant has balls and no white hair flowers blooming so you have that going. Your growth might be stunted if the hairs are browning before it turns to bud but I could be wrong it happened with mine before I think it might just be a phase it goes through and then buds. My plants may have been stunted

Also those little balls that look like seeds might not fully form if you care for the plant. Or even if you do everything as normal it will probably be fine. The one in the magnified picture looks like a big sack so I don’t know what to think, it might be fine bud might grow around it, just adjust anything you think might be causing it if you want. Like ph, nutrients, water source increase the quality of water maybe

Hello thank you for your answer:) i was asking chatgpt why would they go brown and we came to a conclusion that it might be from physical damage (rough handling) probably while i was plucking hundreds of sacs. Chatgpt also informed that those are pistils growing from the calyxes and their sole purpose is to catch pollen and i shouldn't be worried about them turning brownish as this won't effect the quality/potency of the buds. Do you agree? :)

Those sacks are history. :) For nutrients I am only using the fertilizer recommended by my local shop for flowering phase. I only water her with filtered tap water (tap water is drinkable where i live - filter is just another measure to make it smoother) , I don't have a ph checker but i have a moisture checker with nutrient checker on it as well (or so it's claimed) and i see i am usually in the moderate section.
