Hi R7s light bulbs for Metal Halide have only just came out of china in feb 08
from 50-150 watts only is this better than a hps ..
Here is one which says it has 11000 lumens per a watt lol Check THIS OUT TRUST NEW LIGHT SOUCRE
Aqua Medic Metal Halide Lamps - 5000K
if that is ture the ammount of lumens to cost vs hps to match lumens would be great lol so sell your hps lol

Sounds really good to replace MH bulbs for vegging. I'm not so sure about sodium however, since they have a better spectrum for flowering. GL HH

70wMh R7s (11000 lumens per a watt x 70 = 700,000 lumens nothing beats that lol)
these light are water tank lights meant to grow plants at the bottom as well as light up the water so lol .

It still wouldn't be better than HPS for what it does, the spectrum is wrong. The intensity may be superior, but the bulbs are also over $100 a piece.

The spectrum is not really the righ spectrum for veg or flower so would have to check into it more but if they actuall have the lumnes output of 11,000 per watt that is impressive and might be something to look more into. The spectrum needs to be looked at as Im not familar with the 5000k wavelengths. Are these ballasted or what as they have that weird double ended fitting which I guess youd have to by a specdial setup to convert it to be used in a garden with reflector. If it all was possible these might be very intriguing for side lighting and extra light. As 2 70 watt bulbs would be 1540000 lumnes from 140 watts which is impressive.Might be worth looking into and seeing

Metal Halide Lamps - 5000K are availalable from Swell UK.
Aqualine 5000K Daylight metal halide lamp.
Aqualine 5000K is a metal halide lamp with a colour temperature of 5000° Kelvin - daylight.
This lamp was specially developed for the illumination of freshwater aquaria having a high percentage of red lights and a high intensity - 11000 lumens per watt. It gives planted aquaria a natural appearance and enhances plant growth.
70 Watt double ended.
150 Watt double ended.
250 Watt double ended.

dont know its say's it's " high percentage of red lights" so i am thinking the hps would have more in the red spec than this,

would be nice to also know what heat it puts of.

but there's only one way to know are you going to get one? if so let us know how it gose!

Hmmm that 5000k is in the middle of niether wanted color lol.so Maybe as secondary lighting it would help either mh or hps but definately not replace hps completely
