Is this Safe/Secure?

How come everytime an email is recieved it says it's from "marijuana growing" which is seriously the worst, shadiest sender name I can think. Second this site isn't coming up as secure and if you wish to login it now brings up this black login screen without letting you see if your browser is showing the padlock icon in the corner. On Riu, I have yet to see the padlock icon anywhere.

What gives?

and no, the site login does not use https- What would be the point? You're not transmitting anything to us that needs to be encrypted, and we're not transmitting anything back that needs to be encrypted.

It's your job to manage your security settings... I would start be changing your email address for your RIU account to something more suitable for receiving these types of emails (if you choose to not change your email subscription options).

If you want "Marijuana Growing" out of your main e-mail box but still want the info. Just make a Hushmail account or something similar. They're free. Then just change your e-mail for this site so it sends it to the hushmail.
