Is this too many plants for a 4x4 area?

It is a 4x4 area with 16 plants (vegged for 4 weeks)...no screen was used (which will be done next round). They are currently in the 3 week of flower and sitting at 30inches.

Its a 600w hps (no co2) and the temps/humidity are pretty much spot on. The plants look very healthy...just wondering if there is enough light to go round?

I'm no expert but I seriously doubt that single 600 is anywhere near enough for sixteen plants.

Got any pics? Might help a little. 4x4x? What reflective surface?

You have alot of work cut out for yourself. Just rotate them all clockwise every other day and that way they all get under the bulb from time to time.

that's a lot of plants for that light... since you are already 3 weeks in flower you can't really do any trimming or anything to help out a little bit. At this point i would just try to keep your temp and humidity on point and just sail your way through to harvest. Also, rotate that plants like golden said!

So i was lookin to get a 4x4 grow tent for a 600w Hps, straight up flower tent. Is this a bad idea or a good one since i just want a little more room to be able to work with the plants, also planning on using SOG, so the added work space seems to be logical to me. I guess my real question is how many plants or what size area can i put under my 600w comfortably? I feel like 3x3 is a little small for a 600 considering the reflection of grow tents. Just need a lil advice on that end.

i have a 4x4 with 5 plants and no room as it is i would say no. imo unless your doing a solo cup grow then it should be fine.

I run a 250 and i only have a box that is 2x3x4 i run four plants everytime i grow and i get a lil over an ounce off of each one see my grows in my sig and others..So if you have more space then i do and more light then i do you can get that many or more in there..Peace

Hey man, just uploading some pics for you all to check out. Its a 4x4x6 grow tent (w x d x h)...it was quite expensive and the reflective material inside has a kinda bumpy surface (if that makes sense?)

Tell me about it man, it really shouldnt have vegged all 16 for so long...will know for next time. They have been getting moved, but if im being honest its not everyday...got lazy. I will get this done so they have a more even flower. Like I said, im upload pics...check them out if you have time!

yeah, thought about trimming them back...but decided againest it for the same reasons....again i will know for next time. I will just leave the bush under the canopy to just go yellow and die off itself!

Here are some pics

Chop off the bottom 1/3 for better air flow and less popcorn buds lest you with to battle with the infamous PM! Wk 3 (day 21ish) is great for pruning the bottom 1/3 in a SOG style grow (which is probably what you should do with your space and plant amount). GL!

I thought removing large amounts of foliage was a nono (UB always says not too)...esp during 3 week of flower?
Can any experienced scrog/sog growers lend a hand?

make sure youe walls reflect alot of light it will help with that forest
Hey man, yeah the walls are that mylar/bumpy stuff...feels like good quality stuff!

As always, thanks folks!

Soooo...whats the general consensus...to cut them or not to cut them?

I wouldn't cut them now.... you have nothing to gain trimming at 3 weeks into flower other than a little added circulation at the exchange of a loss in yield and stunted growth.

I use the aquamist 1 system to grow, and theres 32 plants in a 2' x 4' area. Thats 4 per square foot. The yield is great and I only use one 600 watt hps. Towards the middle of flowering I usually trim the lower branches, it helps a ton with airflow, and it actually allows the plant to focus more on the main cola, which is what your going for in a compressed sog type set up.

I dont see anything wrong with a slight lollipop if you need to create better air flow but dont go all out crazy at once and dont do a military bowl cut on them either i do mine and i dont have issues with yield but its up to you ...

I built a 4x4x6.5 box out of those big boards you get at home depot over a year ago. I grew avalanche from high grade seeds, vegged in miracle grow, flowered using Advanced Nutes. pretty sure I vegged at or around 30 days, maybe more like 45, idk. Anyways I used a vented 1000w and pulled a pound out of there. I say I had 14 plants in there, cause only 14 of them id consider viable, but im pretty sure I had 2-3 more smaller ones in there. One was so shitty when it finished it was retarded, i think i might have nute burned the fuck out of it as it was a completely diff strain. I did not lollypop anything, and I think I only LST (made the plant grow around the pot) on one of them, the smaller one.

Id do a 1000w if you can. I get ballasts that will run any wattage, MH or HPS (discount hydro).
