I can't imagine why! Complicity perhaps?

Feeling a bit sheepish and just wanna move on? The Don has other plans and court dates, so does the majority in both houses. Imagine, breeching and sacking the capital with an insurrection, disrupting the constitutional duty of the government, while a mob tried to murder elected officials and these clowns figure there should be no complete investigation!

The democrats should appoint some former republican patriot to head the commission, a real fucking firebreather who is howling at the moon mad about this bullshit.

Republicans push back on Pelosi proposal for riot commission

WASHINGTON (AP) — Republican leaders in the House and Senate say a proposed plan for an independent commission to study the Capitol insurrection is overly tilted toward Democrats, arguing that the panel should have an even party split like the one formed to study the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.

House Republican leader Kevin McCarthy and Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell said Wednesday that a legitimate commission would be comprised of an equal number of Republicans and Democrats. A draft proposed by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi would create an 11-member commission with four Republicans and seven Democrats, three of whom would be chosen by President Joe Biden, according to one of multiple aides who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss the details under negotiation.

Pelosi has not commented on the draft or said why there should be more Democratic members. Last week, she said the commission must be “strongly bipartisan” and have the power to subpoena witnesses. But on Wednesday, House Democratic Conference Chair Hakeem Jeffries said McCarthy hasn’t operated in good faith and “set a bad tone” when he supported former President Donald Trump’s efforts to overturn Biden’s legitimate election victory.

The partisan bickering before the commission gets off the ground is raising questions about whether lawmakers can coalesce around a thorough review of the Jan. 6 riot that interrupted the presidential electoral count and led to five deaths. Both parties support creating an independent investigation, but much of the consensus ends there, with Democrats demanding accountability for lawmakers who amplified Trump's falsehoods about the election.

The vast majority of Republicans stood by Trump as Democrats impeached him for telling his supporters to “fight like hell” to overturn his election defeat as Congress counted votes. And it is an open question whether the commission will be authorized to investigate Trump’s actions.

Fuck the Republican's pearl clutching on this, they voted to let individual 1 off, twice. And spent years blocking everything that should have been investigated for the last 4 years.

This is not 'partisanship'. This is not letting the people who are censoring the Republicans that are standing up against the insurection have the ability to troll the libs.

Anyone who is not going to believe a 'Democrat' led investigation is not going to believe a 'bi-partisan' investigation anyways, they already proved that with every 'Russia is a hoax' lie.

Their pearl clutching over a few critical tweets by Neera Tanden is high humor. I don't recall any of them objecting to Dictator Don's tweetstorms.

I saw on the news tonight that there were actually only about 800 folks inside the Capitol. It shouldn't be too hard to round all of them up.
Most in some sort of disguise. Most not stupid enough to broadcast themselves on their cell phones.

Presently, just over 300 arrest have been made. I'd say they're doing a stellar job.

DOJ charges man who allegedly sprayed chemicals at cops in Capitol riot

(CNN)The Justice Department has charged a Texas man who was allegedly caught on video attacking a dozen police officers with a chemical spray during the Capitol insurrection, according to court records.

Federal prosecutors say Daniel Caldwell, 49, used a chemical spray against a line of officers that were blocking rioters from entering the Capitol. It happened amid a massive melee with police, who used batons and pepper spray to fend off the crowd, according to footage of the incident that was cited in court filings.

Hours after the riot, Caldwell spoke about the incident in a video that was posted to the far-right social media site Parler, according to prosecutors. The clip was among hundreds of videos later published by ProPublica.

"They sprayed us with pepper spray. Kept spraying. I was like, 'Dude, do it again and we spray you back.' And he did. And I sprayed back, got like 15 of them," Caldwell said in the video.

He has been charged with four crimes: assaulting federal officers, obstructing law enforcement, knowingly entering a restricted building, and disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds. An attorney isn't listed for Caldwell in the public court docket, and he hasn't had a chance to enter a plea.

A message sent on Saturday to Caldwell's LinkedIn profile wasn't answered.

The use of chemical sprays has been a major focus of the investigation into the death of US Capitol Police Officer Brian Sicknick. CNN reported that prosecutors believe he was attacked with bear spray, which contributed to his death one day later. There is no known connection in court documents or elsewhere between Sicknick's death and the charges against Caldwell.

Chemical sprays were one of many weapons used by rioters during the January 6 insurrection. According to a CNN analysis, other weapons confiscated or used in or around the Capitol that day includes firearms, a metal baseball bat, a fire extinguisher, a wooden club, a spear, a stun gun, crutches, a flagpole, stolen police shields, a wooden beam, a hockey stick and knives.

Yep, nobody would. No state is going to give up their land, and trying to take it wouldn't work out so well for them. Some of this stuff is so dumb it's ridiculous. Reminds me of something...

It's all a pipe dream. The area proposed for "The State of Jefferson" is economically poor and they think their taxes will be lowered. Without CalTrans, they'd have to plow their snow with their own resources and money, just for starters. That, or contract for CalTrans to do it. Then, they'll be saying "why did we do this, again?"

The State of Jefferson wants nothing to do with Idaho.

That map is much more generous than recent proposals. They won't get Mendocino, or Lake counties, for instance. It's all a dream. I rather doubt they'd get Humboldt, either.
Edit; I'd be willing to give up Trinity, Siskiyou and Modoc, though.
