Javadog's Next Adventure

Thanks AJ!

I am also working to prepare the next crop.

I have the Cannaventure Mothers Mix females, three of them,
and a very trained Somango already in hempy buckets.

...and so I am working to decide which of the new breeds will join these in the tent.

So far Blue Dream and HSO's Lemon Juice Express are on the squad:

The older breeds are watching while they wait...

Sorry JD if you've discussed this before. What type of PAR LED lights do you have? What color/spectrum? What is your opinion of them? Have you done an entire grow with them? Do you think they are worth the expense? I'm assuming they are inexpensive to run and don't get too hot? Thanks!

LOL, well, you are wrong on one point...these are Kessil 350's and they are
too expensive. If I were to drop the combined price for the two then I'd likely
get an Area 51 setup.

The are extremely well made, and I am happy with them, but I have only ever
used them to supplement my 600W HID

I am very interested in buying a new tent....something like a 2' X 2' X 7'
One Kessil would do a decent job of coverage in such a tent, and I will
not really know what they can do alone until I try this. The friend who
recommended them grew fine buds with them and so I know that it is possible.

Here: http://www.kessil.com/horticulture/H350.php

I have one Magenta and one Deep Purple. The Magenta has a bit more red,
and may not be perfect for non-flowering situations, it would Veg plants fine
and, more importantly, it will support maturing males. (it would be in these
new, smaller, tents that I will use to take pollen in).

Take care,

JD

P.S. If I were starting today, then I would likely get another 600W HID lamp,
but I fully expect to use LED in time, as cost is king.

P.P.S. Also, heat generated == none at all that I have noticed yet. :0)

give it 5 years for them to perfect them and drop the prices and I would bet LEDs would be the norm not the exception

Hey,

I was trying to capture how nice and fat the LA Con buds are forming up.

This does not do it justice, but at 28 days and at least 8" down into the plant,
I am very happy with this breed so far. I took two clones, but, as with many
of these plants, I had a hard time taking large and healthy clones. The little
tops do OK, though they do seem to take a long time to show new growth.

IMG_1927.jpg
The damn leaf ended up covering most of it...lol...

I over-water and kill a clone now and then when I do not catch that it is one
of the slow/difficult breeds. I find that unless I introduce root rot, that any
clone will root, given enough time. I lost the Purple Wreck clones, but I think
that I have another bean of that breed. I will pop it now. I want to work with
that breed....most interesting coloration. I hit them with their first watering
too early. I need to get my burpee tray back into the closet. It is downstair
sprouting vegetables right now.

Take care all,

JD

Oh, I am nutso. The latest Attitude package arrived and I have
already popped Green Crack, Bubba Kush, Trainwreck, and my
other Purple Wreck bean.

I am happy to have a zoo Vegging. It is good to have big mothers,
as I want to do another SOG for fun. I bought a box of 25 Yield Pots
to do a 5 X 5 with.

I will do a Breeder's Boutique Crop before these though.

Take care all,

JD

sounds great man! what size bags did u decide to get? 2 or 3 gallons? So how many strains you got running now?

I went with the 2 gallon pots.

I have gotten a 6 X 6 of 2 gallon smart pots into my tent,
but with a 5 X 5 I should be able to give them each at least a
millimeter of free space of each side.

Take care,

JD

...my currently running strains is a long list now, but
they are in a few groups. There are the oldies, that I keep
around for fun, until they are bumped by better breeds,
then there are the ones that I am running or am about to run
and then there are those that I am just growing to see what
the future holds.

About 20 I think. I will make a list.

That is about right IMO.
500 bucks for the area 51 really isn't that bad when you consider the big savings in electricity and you can do the entire grow with that one light. that is, if it works. i should get some donations from my friends i'm always giving free weed to and buy one. i'll have to look around for some grow journals using this setup.
