Javadog's Next Adventure

Thanks bro!

The two new ladies to get a hempy, HSO's Lemon Juice Express and
Blue Dream seem to have adapted to their new environments. I think
that I am seeing new growth:

The new seedlings are chugging along:

Lemon Thai Kush and Chemdog are going to get the next two hempys.

Take care,

I skimmed through your thread.
I was wondering how you are handling the run-off from the hempys?
I see the hoses, but not sure where you drain them to??

Great looking grow, and I see you did like me with so many strains at once. It can be a lil overwhelming when they have such different nutritional needs.

Yeah...and it gets worse if you mis-judge the stretch!

LOL, I seem to be getting a handle on things.

While I land on the "take branches not leaves" side of the
defoliation battle, I do think that I will be cleaning the ladies
up once the buds start to get heavy and I am having to work
on them anyway.

You see, right now all I have is a cordon of coated wire that
winds around four stakes in each pot. I am going to have to
switch to devoting stakes to individual tops as they get to heavy.

I have not lost a breed yet, though I keep saying that this
or that breed is on the bubble. I popped about 14 different
breeds recently and plant on having more mature growth to
work with.

As to run-off, you know where I am at. I have no fucking
idea what to do with the fucking runoff! Whee! I am thinking
about putting my tent on a 18" platform, as I have 2' of wasted
space over the tent. This would allow a catch basin below the
hempys.

The answer really is that I will use 2-liter bottles to catch the
runoff from the tubes. This requires that the bottles sit on
their sides, and so reduces the amount that they can catch
a great deal. I also use the large (14") saucers from Home Depot.
These look like they will last one grow. Chake might have been
right to pony up the dough for the expensive ones.

I end up having to sit a towel in the bottom of the tent to
catch the inevitable spillage.

Take care. I am happy to have you on board.

Soma Seeds Somango

TGA Qrazy Train

Reserva Privada Chem 4 OG

The first two because they have the best flavor plus potency,
the Chem 4 because it is just pure grease. I take the lighter
away from a bowl of Chem 4 and it keep burning with a
visible flame. LOL

Now, the quality of my impressions have been affected by my
own activities. This is to say that I am pretty sure that my
PurpleBerry of this Crop is going to improve my impression of
this breed.

I can also say that my impressions are affected by growth
characteristics, if on a lower level. This grow I am looking
very hard at the LA Con and the Headband. If either of these
is good smoke then it will be a keeper until further notice,
as they both are excellent growers, in speed and structure.

Take care,

JD

I still might do hempy again.
I found its quite simple and productive, as long as I dont forget to water them.
Runoff is a problem so I had all my girls on top of 4 gal square pots with basins below.
This grow I am in a tent not the large garage, so I need a more space friendly solution.
Besides when a 4 ft plant falls 18" its not pretty.
I am thinking about long drain tubes on them all that will reach outside tent to a central collection thing, and maybe raise the whole area up to help out.

Yes, this is what I am thinking, and why I suggest a platform
for the tent. I need somewhere lower down to drain to.

Such a system would allow for better and more complete watering/feeding.

I need to be measured in my waterings, preparing for the run off as I go.

If you manage to do this, please let us know. :0) I am just thinking
of something pretty simple: 4'X4' "columns, 2'X4' bracing, and a plywood
floor. This will still cost some dough to do, and will have to wait.

I will be building a RDWC system in time, but will want that to be
on the ground.

Why not a flood & drain table (purchase or DIY _) still hand water & dump run off from rez ? I do it & only lose about a 10" from table height.

peace

First off, thank you very much for taking the time.

10" ...interesting.

A Flood table is not something....hold....well, everything is on
my radar and in my plan, but this one is a bit out there, and
was not something that I expected to consider yet.

I love the idea of using such a table for a perpetual harvest.
I would want to be able to access the table from all side, but
could just drop plants onto slots as they opened up.

Thanks for stopping in.

I have a 4x4 tent and a 4x4 flood table, but with that in the tent I get bugs, since its so tight and I cant keep it clean and dry underneath.
Also my flood table gets so nasty after a month or so and is a PITA to get out.
If I had a 3x3 or 3x4 table it would work.

I am cheap and poor, so whatever I do will be simple and cost effective. :)

I agree on access being important. I would love to be able to
walk around it and pamper the babies.

Access in general is critical. I did one huge screen the last crop.
Never again. What was happening in the back was too much
of a mystery :0)

It is where the Chem 4 and Somango were, so it worked out.

I would love to have a garage, or similar space to turn into
a grow room all together. That would rock whatever the tech
used.

Last grow in my tent 7 mos ago, the back was neglected badly as they were so fragile.
Moving them out to fuss with the back always ended badly with a broken branch or 2.
So I let it be and then the mites came (in the back only).
Strain was Tahoe OG, what a pile of crap the cut I had was!!

Yea that's what i miss about my house. Grew in the garage and garage side room, I could walk around the plants, move them around as i pleased, and it makes caring for them so much better and easier.

Yeah my only hempy grow was in the garage, and they were in totes, but I could come in from either side to work on them.
The space is still there in the garage, but the garage brings other problems for my grow.

In the process of losing my perpetual to the slime..I'm over dwc! Constant work..money..I'll be switching to top feed/drain pots, results that I've seen are unrivaled...and no risk of slime..

I hear you. I will not be trying hydro, even for fun, until
I am down and out of the man-cave.

Lemon King: That news regarding the RP people is precious. Thanks!

GD, those two new hempys are Lemon Juice Express in the front and
Blue Dream in the back. They are both dealing with a ham-fisted FIM
of last week....note the small side-salads that they are both topped with.
(I will judge how the energy is spread out once the tops really open
back up)

BTW: I decided to take this little clone-that-refused-to-not-flower
that I put outside.

This is from a few days ago:

The "Yield":
IMG_1942.jpg
The funny thing is that it is incredibly stinky. I trimmed it at the kitchen sink and
the room stank an hour later. I forgot about it and had to air things out. LOL

I thought that you would appreciate these shots I got of the PurpleBerry:
IMG_1944.jpg
IMG_1945.jpg

I took them when I took the PB out of the tent. I had it on
a second bucket, as it did not stretch like my other plants.

You can see the bleaching in these two shots:
IMG_1946.jpgIMG_1947.jpg

I dropped them a good six inches. This problem will mend. My only concern is
that the other plants will lean into the hole. I have the PB in the middle of a ring
of tall plants. It would lose on the edge.

Take care, and sorry for the novella!

Looks like the PB beans are sold out not to be re-stocked again as it was dropped in lieu of Purkle Berry.

I had last season a slew of lil plants that yielded just like that and all were really stinky and actually strong smoke too, all purple/black leaves except for 1 strain
