Just a couple question about light coverage

i run 6 plants at a time plus start some for ppl

a 10gallon planter should only get maximum 1 1/2 gallon ........i use 7 gallon soil bags (fabric pots) it holds 1 gallon anymore and it leaks (3 gallon soi bags 1/2 a gallon then they leak)

u should be fine for awhile 6/8 months
when u are ready to move from organic to chemical and organic i can link u anouther all in one buy
 
I'll probably just buy one and then buy as needed.

1 1/2 gallon of water or soil? How large of pots do you use? (I guess I had more questions haha)

1 and half gallons of water for 10 gallons of soil

i use 7 gallon soil bags using about 6 and half gallons (leave a little lip to act as a wind block for starting plants) and i use 3 gallons about 2 and half again
7 gallons for plants over 120 grams
3 gallons for plants under 120 grams
the amount of feed and water u offer it is directly linked to what it does for u

soil bags are my choice on planters

slower learning curve ....but u would get there in the end

np man helping ppl out increases my learning curve too i only been doing this a few years ......one or 2 more and i should have the skills of a master ....and my dream job anywhere

Yeah I hear ya. That is why I am trying to learn all I can, my end goal is to have a job that I can put these skills to good use and make a career out of it.

u can look up the parts

chemical has more power due to the fact it is lab made refined minerals...........they have the power but they leave byproducts in the soil that can effect the soil and the plant ......along with salts in the plant that need to be flushed out/used up before u smoke it (leaves a nasty chemical taste in it )..........the kit i linked is from one the older feed lines they know what it is ment for and what they are doing they have full kit that has chemicals and part organic with a plan for u to fallow

organics are just that a mix of purified organic materal ........these have micros and other things from poop fish seaweed minerals sugars ...........organic is less powerful but the benifit of it it keeps the soil happy and u do not need to flush out salts in the soil or the plant ........the taste is good


now this is where it gets fun ........the plans they are telling u are just general for decent results to get better/best results u need to alter the feed .......and this also alters with every strain u do plus every plant ........so it is alot of fun and experiments

Just one final question, just to be completely sure. That GoBox I can use without anything other than what comes with it throughout flowering correct?
 
when i say happy soil i mean
PH is balanced to 6.5
the Mycorrihizae are going
u have the good fungi going too plus all the other good little guys (they got lines of products to add them in )

from starting the seed to the day u cut it that kit has everything u need for several plants

think of this as a base for all your experiments ..........when u are done this u tweak the feed and make more in the end keep going and u are pulling what we get
 
keeping the micros going and happy is one of the keys to great plants

they keep the soil good this allows the plant to intake all the food u offer plus pull everything from soils ........night and day
 
i was told 50 watts per square ft of light,,how do u figure it mathmatically?? was told a 400 watt can cover a 3x3, 600 4x4 and 1k 5x5 is that correct? even w a cool tube as the glass reduces light? how much area does a 150 watt cfl cover? or a 150 watt hps? or 3 4 foot t5 flouros? im also cocidering light bulb height to plants as ive found my 2 600s work better than my 1k as i can put them closer to canopy, would 3 400s work better than 2 6's as i could get them a bit closer?? im in virtual sun cooltube reflectors that are universal for all bulbs and the reflector is adjustable for coverage, with or without end cap reflectors off the wings?? please help me get it right. have a 6x6 area covered by 2 600's hpsand 2 150 watt cfl's 6500k on sides to add blue..

your correct on the area for the great grows.....u still have a 1x1 on all them they will grow but it is more fluffy buds

CFLs are less then u think due to the design of them .....the light is less directed and intence so it only travels so far effectly 125 watt 12 inches maximum use depth of the light

T5/T8/T12 ........are all the same 2000 lumens on 2foot bulbs and 5000 lumens on 4 foot bulbs ...these lights are good for 18 inches or so of decent useable light

yah the reason is u are getting more lumens on the plant is more power ........plus u have a total of 1200w not 1000w and u have a overlaping footprint this increases the area of maximum light...as light travels it loses power but u have 2 overlapping footprints so the area with medium power is getting 2 doses of medium to make it high power (take 2 flashlights one in each hand and move the beams of light on the floor closer and far apart ........u willl see what i am talking about more effectivly then i can explain at my current lvl of food/smoke and awake time )

what do u need man ........after u know what i am talking about what is the goal u are trying to do ........u can only make so much and alot of it is skill on feeding with amount of water offering
 
oh the reflectors are just that that reflect the light in a direction

think of a candle it has nothing now when u put a backing to it u can see little more now u angle the reflector right and u have a flash light effect u see as far as possible with the light at hand

same thing with the grow lights they funnel all the useble power in a direction that is predictable so u can use
 
thanks justaugh, just trying to figure out the watt by foot thing..is it possible to run too much light in an area? like if ur running perfect getting 1gram per watt, then add another bulb still get a g per watt so the extra light is being wasted wright? so what is the perfect amount of light in a 6x6 area? could i do w/out the cfl's on the sides? the 2 600's are ; inline w a inlinefan between them both spreading light to the sides so the center gets the best light then as u go out to the sides most light is reflected cover..

in theory yes u can have to much light (when the lumen power is about 100k they start to get heat stress and bleach )...as for the 1 gram per watt thing it is doable and can do even better
feeding and watering are the key........a hydro set up also does more then a soil due to the fact u are offering the plant more water

as for perfect light u need to work on Par ratings and extending the maximum light zone (like with the 2 flash lights )

to build a full power oh my god room 6x6 4 600w LED matrix S ............the whole room would be maxed out or near max (the led light with the lens on the light will get u nearly 4 fft of depth thick buds ) ...just trim the lower branches off to remove them from sucking up food and water ......u are looking at about 90% dense plant)

Hey man, gonna be ordering the hood and the nutrients tomorrow hopefully. My plants will be set to 12/12 on the 19th.

Do you have a link to a guide to set up to the ducting and fan?


Right now what I was going to do was hook the fan to the cool hood and run ducting from the inline fan/hood up through my drop ceiling and cut a hole in one of the ceiling tiles and mount it so the duct can pull air through air-tight to pull the cold air from the basement room through into the lamp, Does that sound about right or am I doing it wrong?

The temp in the room is running at a steady 80F so I don't think I'll need to exhaust heat out, I just want to keep the lamp cool.

The leaves that are starting to grow out of the nodes are slightly yellow tinge so I need those nutes ASAP. Other than that they're bushy and beautiful, it's just the new growth on the one plant that has slightly yellow tinge.
