yeah, you could do that as well.. the only thing with going the fem'ed route vs clones from each one, the fem'ed seeds all won't be 100% identical to the plant it came from vs a clone being identical.. depending on what was dominant and what was recessive in the original plant will depend on what the offspring using a chemical like cs will look like..
So would it still be pretty close to the plant it came from, if not exact ,or could it be a completely different pheno that took the characteristics of the other plant?

Depends upon how stable the parents were. In your case, its a total crap shoot cuz your friend didn't keep them separate with labels, so you don't even know what you have. In one of mine, the female was Maui Wowie and male was bagseed of Lemon skunk. I still have seeds from that original cross, I've been working on a pheno from the F1 of that cross

edit: I germed some of the F1's and focused on one of the phenos

my turn now. this...
like single malt said, all depends on the parents.. you could end up with something just as dank as the parent, or even danker, or you could turn out with a plant with all of the worst characteristics of the parents.. at this point, it'd be a numbers game of running as many of the fem'ed seeds as you can and find out how stable the parents were..

So I guess its not that easy to lock down the genetics like I was thinking. How long do you think it takes seed companies to stabilize a strain to be perfect?

So probably years then right, eh whatever all weve got is time.
Yep. The pheno I'm chasing is actually nothing like either parent. Its got a very wierd stone, kinda just makes ya more dumb than high but has a glorious unique floral, non citrus or pine, aroma. Never smelled anything like it

Are you looking for a more quality smoke with higher thc , or a heavy yielder ,or something in between

Its a heavy yielder, but it was the smell that grabbed me. It doesn't smell like MJ. You could have it in full flower and no one would suspect there is weed around. Kinda smells like a florist shop. The high makes you a zombie but you don't feel like a great THC high, just makes ya stupid but it's great if you are hurt (back, aches, etc)

I love a real pungent and stinky skunk. My favorite by far. I would love to find a nice old school super skunk in that mix.
