Hello Growers,

Growing outdoors in Kratky system. 1 gallon mason jars.

2 plants are growing fine. One is acting a bit weird. Looks like its leaves dont wanna stay up. There is room for oxygen between the net pot and water level with the root tip just in the water.

Can anyone advise what's up with this? Thanks in Advance

Is it bcoz of underfeeding. My ppm is 700 and ph is 5.7. i have used local hydro nutrients. Dosage was 1/3 of recommended for tomato plants (since they do not list cannabis plants).

Not underfed buddy. Why Kratky I may ask? It's only used more for low DO required plants commercially like lettuce.

While you may get lucky with growing tomatoes and even Cannabis with Kratky it is very easy to get problems like root rot because no aeration and lack of sufficient amount of DO(dissolved oxygen).

They're probably way to warm in the root zone. Heat is going to be the main problem with running hydro outdoors. You need better insulation and a big reservoir in the shade or indoors.

I wanted to try Kratky. I have supplied additional O2 by dissolving H2O2 35% @ 1ml/l. Plus there is room between the net pot and water level. This is showing signs of overwatering like in soil.

I had moved it into a bigger 1 gal res 3 days back in a fresh nute solution. I fail to understand what is the problem. The root is white and crispy.

Environment. I would never start seeds outdoors. Better to sprout and let them establish indoors before being transplanted IMO. Good luck!

I started them indoors. Just transplanted them 3 days back when the root shoot was clearly visible from the bottom of the rockwool cube

I did not want to disturb them, but I will check tomorrow morning and post pictures here. If it is root rot, what do you suggest I do to fix it?

Still way to early in my book. If you manage to pull Kratky off in those small containers, hats off to you!

You may want to look in to preventative measures like using chlorine. I use regular bleach to sterilize in hydroponics. If you use H2O2, put it on a schedule.
Cheers!

hydrogen peroxide works, I've tried hygrozyme I grow slime. Doesn't work, I can tell you that from experience. I usually clean them up and replant in promix hp. If I want to save them. I haven't had much luck with hydro, especially outside. I'm the king of root rot imo. Promix rules my world.

Yes, that could be a reason. It suddenly started heating up last 2 days. Should I let them be or move them indoors for a few.
Filtered sunlight is good while trying to harden...I place mine under my patio table that has a small grid-like pattern on it so light can go through it...I leave them under there for a couple hours a day and gradually increase their exposure to direct sunlight. After about a week and a half, I can leave them in direct sunlight for a good 5-6 hours without any visible effects and then they go back in their tent.

I had the root dipping in but my rockwool was very dry. I did not top water it ever. Just watered the rockwool a bit to see what happens. This one seems to be on verge of dying. I thought the root would pull up enough water for the plant. Maybe too much sun evaporated water faster than root could take it up
