large yield vs frosty buds ?

So what is the definition of potency since it's well defined? Total THC doesn't equal potency.
Is it though, how do you judge potency?
I will give you my absolute honest answer. I define potent weed by a simple guage. How much do I need to smoke to get high.

Maybe not how you see it but that's how it be for me.

Potency = "butt Dyno"

Agreed, it's not all about the THC percentage. Ive had (probably) 15%ers that have fucked me the fuck up.
Completely agree. I really couldn't care less about the % of THC.

I only really have 1 concern and that is taste.

That's really all I care about. I can smoke more if it's not great potency but it needs to taste great.

What does that even mean, how do you define potent?
Not all trichomes are equal, there's various forms of them and capitate stalked trichomes are specifically the ones we're looking for. So the amount of frost on a plant doesn't equate to THC levels or quality, that's a beginner mistake and why looking at pictures online has little relevance to the actual quality of the smoke.

While this is somewhat true, a frosty nug is still going to get you higher than a non frosty nug. I've never felt like I've been duped by fugazi frost.

This was my first reaction when I saw the thread, yield and frost are both secondary to quality. Potency is less relevant then quality to me, as flavour and the effects being interesting or how well it yields when squished/washed. Those are more important then how strong it is to me. Yield matters after that as if you have two plants with similar quality then obviously the bigger yielder is the keeper. How much frost is on a plant or what it looks like in general isn't that relevant to me as it has little to do with quality as defined by the effects and taste.

Most frosty nugs don't do much for me, within 15 mins I don't feel the buzz anymore whereas something like the guatamalan my buddies collected doesn't have much visible frost (small bracts and none on the leaves really) but is like drinking 3 shots of espresso and makes me anxious/paranoid for an hour or two, absolutely unable to sit still. So I personally have little interest in frost as I don't equate it with quality.

Try some different weed, the frost ain't the issue

I’m being dead serious about gauging a “ rip “ …

everybody’s metabolism is different. Been offered so called “ Killer bud “ “ this will fuck you up “ “ slap yo mamma “ kind of weed - got MEH. Oddly they were mostly purp . Tastes like candy and sunshine but took 2-3 joints just get a passable high. Mostly got numb lips.

Mostly true but there are those types that are just greasy and not super frosty to the eye that fry you. With weed you just gotta try it, no other way to gauge potency imo especially considering the uniqueness of each of our bio chemistry etc.

I also believe it’s how you consume the cannabis.
Edible versions of same strain can grab your ass better than a joint. I tend to go volcano bags / tincture / bong first , then cones / J’s. Bags keep the flavor and i can dial the temps.

So i would say that typical joints sometimes don’t hit as well as edible version.

Good convection vapes make it all taste way better. It's crazy.
