Would the HLG 550 be overkill for a 3x3 tent? Main concern is heat generation.

Anyone know how HLG lights compare as far as heat generation to lets say some T5’s or some of the cheap chinese leds from amazon?

At full power, it's really too much.
A driver that allows you to dim the fixture(which that lamp has) solves this issue.
The great thing about led's. is that they become more efficient as you reduce the amount of power you push through them.
I always recommend buying more than you need because I've always ended up using it and then some.
A 3x3 needs approx. 300-350 watts of top-tier diodes to get sufficient ppfd values for flowering.
