it's the spectrums that the light spits out

tri or quad doesn't tell anyone which spectrums are being used though

a tri band could be red/far red/blue, maybe red/blue/white, maybe red/blue/ir

so without knowing which bands the tri or quad are talking about, it's hard for anyone to say
this is the example of the triband with wavelengths http://cgi.ebay.com/90W-FULL-SPECTRUM-TRIBAND-UFO-HYDROPONIC-LED-GROW-LIGHT-/110387048816?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item19b394b170
and this is the quad band one http://cgi.ebay.com/90-WATTS-LED-Quad-BAND-UFO-HYDROPONIC-GROW-LIGHT-90W-/270671024139?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3f0540100b
im just wanting to grab the right one for the job out of the gate.

in this instance it looks like:

tri band - red/blue/orange
quad band - red/blue/orange/white

there is debate on whether orange is very beneficial or not, white seems to be added often since it is generally in the blue spectrum

i'd be super iffy on either of these, if i had a gun to my head and had to choose 1 i'd go for the quad band since it has some white in there, the orange on both just seems kind of like a waste

hope it goes well for you with whatever you decide!

quick thought on the kessil since it bleaches plants from 1 foot away that means i need to add another foot of grow box space to the height? so much for a stealthy grow

They recommend a distance of 1-2'. I let it get t about 8" when it bleached mine a little. So...

ROFL no that does not help man seriously cmon man thats the link to the ebay page and its for the flowering model.... its the same panel i have in the same 6 bands. If your panel really is a veg model i want to see a link FROM THE MANUFACTURER they are out there i got the one for my panel. Lighthouse has an actual website. Let me see some info man or get victor to send you an email and post it. Im not tryin to be a dick i just wanna see actual confirmation of what is being said.
Kron there are a shit load of white led's in the panel pic that you posted....Im pretty sure that is the veg model.......If you have such a hard time believing their is a blackstar veg panel why not just call vic and ask? I did

Quite the opposite. These lights tend to send plants into flower mode early. The Gotham site mentions this.

I was just looking at your journal. Looked to me like you were playing with fire. Kinda close. Live and learn, I reckon. Looks good, otherwise, and the stretch can't go on forever. You look to be on your way to being an LED believer.

I was a couple of weeks in when I had a setback. Hopefully in recovery, but I don't plan on posting pics.
Why not Viagro? Kind of hurts your credibility, no?

I have grown with Lighthouse UV's and vegged with their 2010 - they did OK.

Currently I have two plants in a cabinet with two Magenta Kessil's above them. Additionally there are two 200W CFL's, two 100W CFL's and three 45W Blue/Red LED panels.
Is the bud amazing? Uhhh . . . not really. Again its OK. Do I believe a Kessil could flower a plant by itself without any supplemental light? Unlikely.

Additional info: Plants are Stargazer and Alaskan Ice, Nutes are Advanced Sensi and medium is Fertilome.

I'm not concerned with convincing anyone of my credibility. Anyone can chose to consider me honorable or not....it's their choice. Not out to prove anything, just here to honestly share my knowledge and opinions.

I have my reasons for my choices, and am under no obligation to meet anyone's demands.
