Why not Viagro? Kind of hurts your credibility, no?

I have grown with Lighthouse UV's and vegged with their 2010 - they did OK.

Currently I have two plants in a cabinet with two Magenta Kessil's above them. Additionally there are two 200W CFL's, two 100W CFL's and three 45W Blue/Red LED panels.
Is the bud amazing? Uhhh . . . not really. Again its OK. Do I believe a Kessil could flower a plant by itself without any supplemental light? Unlikely.

Additional info: Plants are Stargazer and Alaskan Ice, Nutes are Advanced Sensi and medium is Fertilome.
thats a lot of power bro i think maybe there's something else missing out of the picture?

What's up with that is I'm not making an claims about LED's one way or the other, just that they're OK. What is it you feel I need to prove? That they aren't as great a claimed?

I will finish this grow with the Kessil's as Viagro sugggests, but whatever the result it won't be accurate because I have 600 watt (equivalent) of CFL in there too.

I think the ideal way to light the garden would be to have a panel glowing over every part of the canopy. Obviously. We cannot rely on LED's at 120 degree lenses putting out enough area beyond the actual housing of the unit. Say the unit measures 12x24, then you should put that one unit over that exact size canopy, give or take an inch or few of course.

You want full canopy coverage, with the proper degree of lighting. Tests are being done to determine if/how these variables effect the plants growth.

We all already know that most led's can veg like a mo fo, but its those wonderful blossoms we all greatly desire.

LETS GET THIS THREAD GOING! C'mon peeps....

Hello guys,
I am a college student (Botanics ;)) and a few months ago we were visiting a glasshouse in a botanic garden where they grow tropical plants. In a corner, clearly for experiment, they have a couple of plants (just tropical plants, dont ask me which) surrounded by small panels with leds on. The panels were quite small and insted of being kept above the plants in a sun-like way, they were each one of them on a cluster of leaves (2 or 3 leaves for each panel). Which makes sense, if you think that it's leaves that photosynthesize, so if you manage to direct most of the light to the leaves only, photosyntheis rate accellerate (= faster growth, better flowering etc). So maybe it/s an idea worth testing?

^^^ i forget which forum, but this guy was talking of building custom led grow lamps, where you could direct a bank of leds right at a bud, so you could have each giant cola with it's own small led array directed right at it, i thought it was an interesting idea

Kapt Kron sorry if you do not like the info I have posted. It is the Only info currently available, including the lighthouse site for this particular panel. My initial numbers for the diodes were pasted from a memo victor sent to me. The pic is from Ebay listing by Gotham calling this a vegg-clone model. Cannot provide you with information that I do not have and yes you have been less than courteous. Leave it at that.
Yes i usually am less than courteous to people who make me ask about fifteen times to get any sort of answer regarding something it becomes annoying. I doubt your panel exists now as there has been no concrete info shown on it sounds to me like your using a flower panel and trying to call it a veg panel. Misinformation bothers me.

somehow i doubt you can claim your buds arent impressive unless you got crap genetics or your just a crap grower, one or the other your using good nutrients nothing wrong there. Genetics are a big deal man bigger than everyone makes em out to be. I just recently got some stuff that is blowing everyones mind who sees my setup right now and im not even running kessils im running a single 240w blackstar. The guy who gave me the mother i filled my table with said he has never seen that strain so happy and healthy and with as big of nugs as it has and its only maybe a month and a half in. I got no complaints about LED and seriously doubt anyone who says they dont work. I've seen it with my own eyes it absolutely puts my 400w HPS to shame for flower and a 400wMH for veg completely to shame blows em out of the water. NO supplemental lighting

LOL Kapt. will just have to learn to take your comments for what they are worth. Whatever my blackstars are they are vegging very nicely. Barring catastrophe we will see what they can do in flower, even without pictures and specifications in a format you find acceptable. Seriously no hard feelings.

picked up a used haight solid state ppf 400 last night, great deal too, saved about $100 compared to if i ordered it brand new. it's installed in place of my 250 watt hps in veg, here's a pic of it in action, i lowered it to about 10" from the top of the tallest plant this morning so please forgive how high it is in the pic:

i had a ppf 800 coming, but since it was back ordered and i'm not patient, i cancelled and instead ordered a lumigrow es 165 which will be paired up with a 400 watt hps, there are currently 2 sunshine systems glowpanel 45 panels in that grow area which will be removed once the lumigrow arrives, well at least 1 will be removed, the glowpanel will be repurposed in the cloning/sprouting chamber

avoid overheating do not place objects on top well that wouldnt be a problem if it were designed properly no airflow even i know you need proper cooling for any electronic system i gotta 1200w computer and i got a 150w mini computer and they still both need fans

surface may be hot when operating do not touch glad my led panel runs cool and not hot like that

to quote will smith from mib i feel like im gonna break this thing

You can run a computer passive but that needs proper built heatsinks with large surface-area and heatpipes. But it will still run hot to the touch since the heatexchange in a passive system is low. It could work if you let the heatsinks "catch" some of that moving air inside your growarea.

The ultimate LED in my mind would be a watercooled led where you could place the radiator where its needed. Intake to raise temps? Getting rid of heatproblems? It would also make the light run much cooler. Since all LED panels have downfacing fans, the unit will disturb the natural airflow. Maybe LED and Water = true? :p

Never have grown with LEDs before but after spending a long long time reading most of Kaptain Krons and Viagros posts they have got me beliveing. Thanks to both for all of your advice and knowlege on the subject.

"Believing" is the easy part - deciding which of the myriad of LEDs to invest in is the difficult part ... unless you want the best in which case you simply choose Kessil H150 lights.
