LED's Good or Bad, help needed!!!!!

Well i'm thinking about my first grow and was wondering if LED's are worth using, Just wanna know if they are as good as a HPS 400 watt.
The ones i want are 13 watt per LED, with 168 LED's. Someone who knows help plzzzz

Go with HPS

can't, it would cost me too much to get one, so the leds are my only choice right now, just need some info from someone if there any good on growing

Very few people have grown with LEDS... if you decide to use LEDs you will be somewhat of a pioneer...

Well i've decided, and i will grow with LEDs. Within a week or two after i get my seeds from the dam and lights, i already have a closet prepared, i'll start a journal as well, then we can see if its even worth the effort

Nice one where are you buying your LED's from? Do you have the tech specs of them to hand?

well here are the specs, they have the blue spectrum and red spectrum
BLUE SPECTRUM L.E.D.= 460-470 Nanometers (NM), 168 leds, 13 watt
RED SPECTRUM L.E.D. = 645-655 Nanometers (NM), 168 leds, 13 watt
yea thats pretty much all i know about them, supposedly you use the blue spectrum for the vegetative state, and the red for the flowering/budding

I have done many grows before but have not done a lot of experimenting with lighting so unfortunately don't know a lot about them.
Yes there should be a lot more blue light for veg and red for flowering.

ye, i'm wondering if you need a special balance of some colors or if mayb only the red spectrum would make your buds grow great

You don't want a lot of red if you are growing your plant in a vegetative cycle. The reds are more for the flowering stage. I'm not the one to talk about lighting here because I don't know a lot about the different types at all so hopefully some others will pitch in.

they aren't 13watts per LED if that is what you are thinking

#And if your doing this on price then deffo go for the HPS. They are much cheaper than the equivalent LEDs

ye the entire bulb is 13 watt, but from the info i've gotten about them, they are supposed to only supply the light that the plant really needs, not much else, a questions, would you possible need blue light to help vegetative growth during flowering, if you think about it, a plant still grows its buds, so i'm guessing that a proper balance of blue and red would be needed for the perfect bud production, gimme your opinions

where are you getting that information?? The sources I have read say for every hundred watts of hid light you will only need 25 watts of LED's. By the time you add the savins from not having to buy a system to air cool the hps light and then buy another mh light for vegging you will be in the hole. VV

Jizzle you are getting the right infromation. If you feel like it check out my journal. We have the same discussion of the T-5's versus the hid's that you are having here about the led's. Experienced growers wil tell you, you have to get a hid or you won't get any bud. Then when you show you can they will tell you can't get any yeild. When you show you can they will say well yea but its not the tight buds you get with the hid. When you show it is they will say yea but it doesn't have the same potency. When they smoke it and get knocked on there ass........ You might want to check GK out just a little before you make comments, he is SeeMoreBuds.com has written 4 books on the subject of growing MJ and he is working on a fifth. His ionformation is correct, this is new territory, not many are using the led's. VV
