Legal growing vs stealth growing

Well… I am new to this site, so forgive me if I am asking question that should be easily found by search. I did a search, but could not find what I was looking for.

I pulled out my old High Times magazine grow issue from 1999 and was surprised to see so much of the information from 23 years ago seems to be still pertinent.

(A lot of fun flipping through that old magazine… Double page photos of gigantic buds almost like playboy centerfolds every few pages.)

anyway… Back then, all of the articles understandably seemed to be catering to stealth growers.

now we live in an age where almost half of the states are legal. I live in Minnesota where I can grow outside “under lock and key“ or otherwise inside without worrying about smells, neighbors or our friendly neighborhood law enforcement officers.

I would imagine at least some/most of the advice I can find on this site is more catered toward stealth growers.

is there a forum here that discusses alternative grow methods for those of us who do not have to be so discreet?

I don't know, I grow in a legal state but I'm still cautious. The maintenance guy at the building I live in took me up on the roof today, he's growing a handful of fairly small plants without much know how. Who knows though. But I'll say that in recent years, going back as far as 2008ish, I noticed high times and skunk and some of the other magazines were just reprinting the same stuff, sometimes tweaked to look different. There have been so many changes since then though, especially in the world of LEDS, and the legal cannabis industry, so who knows. Your post makes me want to pick up an old High Times but my old copies are long gone..

Growing is growing. Stealth is more about security than anything else. It just takes one meth head or thug with a crowbar and a reason to use it on my home to cause me a massive headache, and avoiding that is worth the extra money for carbon filters, which at my scale is like 60-80 bucks.

I love that smell…. I actually considered doing it just in my bedroom. . Or in the bathroom off my bedroom. Can’t believe I’ve gone 30 years without realizing I can smoke ( or eat) without getting totally blown away.

Nobody’s gonna be breaking down the door to see how many plants you have.. I work in healthcare, so I’m a little paranoid how it might impact my job if anything happened. I got a DUI some time ago and thought the world was going to end with my job… Turns out other people have gotten DUIs in my field before me. Who knew!

I live almost at the end of the road… people walk up and down it for exercise… Mostly old people where I live.

If one is in a NOT-Legal state - posting pictures of grows from a non-legal state could be hazzarous to your freedom ???

A bit over ten years ago I got my grow cranked up at a new location. By mid-September it was stinking like it should and the woman next door calls the cops. When they advised her another call about my legal outside grow, and SHE would be cited for it I knew the world had come full circle.

Yeah it's nice ain't it? And recently my local town police chief got suspended and than resigned which I'm happy about considering he was trying to pass weird marijuana laws on a local level but was turned away by the state board because what he was trying to do was illegal and he is all in all a corrupt tyrant and high school bully lol.

When you grow in a legal state you need to be more concerned about goons than cops. I would always suggest growing stealth even if its 100% legal.

I use large carbon filters in each grow space to constantly scrub the air, I do not exhaust any air outside, I don't put air conditioners in the windows or have light showing outside, block any basement windows using lattice and black panda plastic inside to keep it looking as "normal" as possible and to avoid someone crawling through your window. Don't leave pots outside or any obvious grow shit in the open if possible.
use ductless air conditioners like mini-split units, add a liquid propane co2 generator to your room with a co2 controller.

WARREN TWP, MI — Approaching a Midland County home in the dead of night, six men apparently had ambitions to rob the residents of their marijuana growing operation. Things didn’t quite go according to plan.
Rather than make off with the cash crop or money, one of the six received a bullet for his troubles, courtesy the home’s owner. His five cohorts, meanwhile, found themselves jailed within hours on charges that could land them in prison for life.
