Let them BURN

My flower room has 13 plants approx 1.5metres tall I tied them back as best I could but the 1.2 x 1.2 mtr flood tray only just fits in the room I'm flowering in and access to the rear plants is all but impossible.

I have seen a few grow houses with bypassed electricity and 30+ hid bulbs, in all of these the grower just lets the plants burn where they're stupid enough to get too close to the fire so to speak.

So I let the middle plant burn pretty much its about 6" away from a 1000w hps. I got carbon filters and centrifugal fans etc heat ain't an issue in the room just the plant that sits right underneath the globe gets pretty fried..

Anyway the fan leaves seem to suffer but the bud itself doesn't. I know you pussy types say 'ooh that's too hot get your plant a cold compress and sing to it' but really is there any other effects this has besides burning a top cola and a few fan leaves?:leaf:

+bump ..I also wondered about this as I grow in a cabinet and am seeing how close I can keep the light to the plants. Was wondering on the determential side effects of the light being to close. Out of curiosity is it the fan leaves that first show signs of the light to close, perhaps curling up towards the light.

I'm running a 400w hps/mh with in a air cooled hood. This is cooled by a 6in exhaust fan with a large tower fan in the corner that blows pretty hard across the plants and under the light. I notice when I put it in I was able to put the light closer as it stays cooler directly under the lamp with the air movement really exhanging the air there.

I think its pretty safe to say its not that detrimental to the plants if you let them burn... I'd rather have the reflector closer even if it means sacrificing a plant so the others get more intense HID goodness.

Consider that the majority of kiddies on these boards have only had pathetically small setups using multiple household CFL's and tiny pots, they don't buy proper A&B nutes, and have to hide it from their parents cause they're 14 years old... not exactly the people you want giving you info...
